The new Western, executive produced by Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan, is bringing gunslinging drama to Sunday nights.
It may be a long wait before Yellowstone fans will see their favorite Dutton drama return to the screen—Paramount recently announced that the hit show won’t air its final episodes until November 2024—but for those craving some more Western action in their lives, there is good news. Paramount+’s latest original series, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, is bringing plenty of gunslinging goodness to fill the gaping hole in our viewing schedules.
Starring David Oyelowo as the legendary lawman himself, who became the first Black U.S. Marshal in the American west. As the first season of an anthology series, the episodes “will bring the legendary lawman of the wild west to life,” according to the official synopsis. It continues, “Reeves, known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.”
The show is co-created by Chad Feehan and executive produced by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, who Feehan assures has, “sprinkled some magic storytelling dust,” on the series.
