The newest hit Netflix documentary, Sly, tells the story of iconic actor Sylvester Stallone’s rise to fame in the 1970s, and his illustrious film career.
Even if you aren’t totally familiar with Sylvester Stallone’s name, you’d definitely recognize his work. The 77-year-old filmmaker is one of the most iconic faces in the business, and is best known for Rocky, a franchise which he both created and starred in.
Sylvester has had some unexpectedly massive success in his career, but it was quite a rocky road along the way. Sly, which is just over 90 minutes long, walks through his life’s successes and failures—pulling in insights from the people the actor was closest to, and those he inspired—including Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino.

Move over, The Kardashians! The Stallone family recently debuted their own reality series, The Family Stallone, in May 2023. The series runs exclusively on Paramount Plus, and follows the more realistic, “Family Man” version of Sylvester, which is quite a paradoxical view when compared to the “Action Hero” persona he’s often played up throughout his career.
