Actor Cole Hauser attends the premiere for “Yellowstone” season five at the Walter Reade Theater on Nov. 3, 2022, in New York. Hauser has a new whiskey brand, Lazy K Bar.

On Wednesday, American actor Cole Hauser (“Yellowstone,” “Dazed and Confused”) took to Instagram to announce the launch of a whiskey brand, Lazy K Bar Bourbon Whiskey.

In the Instagram post, Hauser said the brand is inspired by the “heritage and grit of the pioneers that built Montana,” the state in which “Yellowstone” is set.

The brand debuts with an 8-year-old bourbon, which is bottled at 92 proof and available exclusively in Montana, although the brand said in an Instagram comment that it plans to eventually expand beyond the state.

It’s unclear at this time where Lazy K Bar bourbon is distilled, aged and bottled — we really don’t know much about it beyond its proof, age statement and celebrity connection.

The Tasting Panel Magazine awarded the whiskey a 98-point score.

The brand is named for Lazy K Bar Ranch, one of the longest-running dude ranches in Montana. The ranch was founded in 1887 as a working cattle and horse ranch and opened to guests in 1922.

Lazy K Bar Straight Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes, Via the Brand: “The nose starts with dark barrel notes of caramel and toffee with an aged honey character. Sweet toast and malted grain characteristics are complimented by herbal and spice notes from the rye. The aromatic complexity continues to evolve over time. Dark spices of clove and cinnamon are present along with a hint of apple. The blend has a rich round mouthfeel with a balanced natural sweetness and finishes with a pleasant warming sensation. The finish leaves you with notes of caramelized oak and malted grain.”

Amid the drop of this whiskey, Hauser is in a bit of legal trouble, as “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan is suing the actor for copyright over Hauser’s recently launched coffee company, Free Rein. Sheridan claims the Free Rein logo is “confusingly similar” to his coffee brand, Bosque Ranch.

In August 2022, Hauser helped host a series of parties themed after “Yellowstone.”
