General Hospital spoilers and updates tease Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) will ask Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) for help.
But is she asking professionally, or as a family favor-does she need a warrant to pull Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) and Mac Scorpio’s (John J. York) paternity test?
Felicia Scorpio Could Be Violating HIPAA
Felicia might have violated HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality now that she is employed by GH and serving as a patient advocate if she had simply accessed the paternity test copy from the lab.
She needs to view the documents, but she’s not sure if asking Robert to obtain a warrant for them would be appropriate in the absence of a crime being investigated.
Felicia has serious concerns about Cody’s refusal to share the test results with anybody, despite his claims that Mac is not his biological father.
However, Robert is Mac’s elder brother and Felicia’s brother-in-law, so perhaps he could take care of things as a family courtesy.
There has to be something he can figure out for Felicia to be able to see the results without endangering her job or starting a criminal investigation on Cody.
A Roundabout Way?
Robert thinks maybe there’s a roundabout way besides issuing a warrant to access the paternity test records from the hospital lab.
Little do they know there are several close to the Scorpio family who already know the truth-Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) plus Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson).
Cody hasn’t been forthcoming since Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) died and the Ice Princess necklace was destroyed in the drone strike on the Haunted Star.
Cody is now ashamed of himself for putting money ahead of family-the only reason he lied is because he thought he could inherit the necklace as Leopold Taub’s (Chip Lucia) son.
Felicia Scorpio Gets Clearance
Robert was able to arrange for Felicia to access the paternity results by fudging a reopening of the lawsuit Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) had started against the WSB.
In order to properly close the litigation later, he had to reopen it and get the paternity test results to determine whether Cody was entitled to the necklace.
That was the exact reason Cody had backed out—he needed evidence that he was Taub’s son, as Taub, not Cody’s mother Dominique Stanton (Shell Danielson), was the rightful owner.
Since Robert is in Argentina and unable to personally look into the documents, he set Felicia up to act on Mac’s behalf.
Felicia is able to obtain the information without jeopardizing her employment because she is representing Mac in this manner and is not under the hospital’s authority as a patient advocate.
