What really happened to Bobbie’s daughter on GH?
Bobbie Spencer’s General Hospital memorial service brought a familiar face no one expected: Brighton Hertford, who’d played Bobbie’s adopted daughter, BJ Jones, until the child was killed off onscreen in 1994, was now playing Angela Brighton (see what they did there?), a reporter doing a story on Bobbie’s efforts to help sex-trafficked girls. It could have just been a sweet tip of the hat to Bobbie’s most heartbreaking storyline. Or, it could be a clue for a major story about to come.
BJ Jones: Staying Alive
What if BJ didn’t die in that bus accident? What if BJ is still alive? I know, I know, I know what you’re thinking. How could BJ still be alive, if we saw her die, on-screen, and her heart was donated to save the life of her cousin, Maxie (Kirsten Storms)? Well, we’d like to direct you toward Exhibit A: Jake Webber (Hudson West).
Remember when Jake died? Luke (Anthony Geary) ran him over with his car — on-screen. Jake’s kidneys were donated to save the life of Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). Elizabeth (Rebecca Hearbst) mourned. Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) mourned. Jason (Steve Burton) mourned…but in a stiff upper-lipped sort of way. Time passed. And then it turned out Jake was alive, after all!
Death Island
Seems Helena (Constance Towers) had spirited the boy away, and the kidney Joss actually got came from Nelle (Chloe Benson) via Jax’s (Ingo Rademacher) black market dealings. So if it’s good enough for Jake, why can’t it be good enough for BJ? Sure, Helena wasn’t in Port Charles when BJ died. But her reach is long.
Helena hated Luke. So why wouldn’t she hate his sister, too? Why wouldn’t Helena want to destroy Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) by faking her daughter’s death? She did it for the evils. And, perhaps, as a blackmail and bargaining chip down the road. Helena has orchestrated all kinds of machinations over the years. This is totally on-brand for her. And we’ve just seen an alive BJ with our own eyes!
