The atypical 2023/2024 TV season is nearing its end and networks are looking forward to summer programming. CBS unveiled its schedule, which mostly features reality and documentary series, but Tulsa King is set to make its broadcast debut this summer. The Sylvester Stallone-led crime drama premiered on Paramount+ last year to record viewership. Airing on broadcast television will introduce the show to a whole new audience who would not have given it a chance. CBS had done this before with Yellowstone when they reaired past seasons during the Hollywood double strikes, and it was a success. The decision was cosigned by NCIS: Sydney, which also made a successful broadcast debut. Tulsa King’s first season will air starting July 14 at 8 PM.

In Tulsa King, Stallone stars as Dwight Manfredi in his first role in scripted television. Manfredi is a Mafia capo who spent the past 25 years in prison, and upon release, he’s sent to Tulsa to begin a chapter of the criminal enterprise. He must deal with reconnecting with his family while trying to navigate a world he barely understands while coping with the realities of the nature of his job. The second season is currently in production in Atlanta. Neil McDonough has joined the second season as a territorial businessman in Tulsa called Carl Thrasher. In the second season, Rich Ting will also appear as Jackie Ming, a ruthless man with ambitions in Oklahoma.
