Yellowstone might be ending but a Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler spin-off could be given the green light.
Yellowstone’s Cole Hauser has hinted at talks of a Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler spin-off.
The Western Paramount Network drama is nearing its end with just the second half of season five left to air.
With the final instalments on the horizon, fans’ thoughts have turned to what creator Taylor Sheridan is going to work on next.
Of course, there have already been a few Yellowstone-universe set spin-offs in the shape of 1883, 1923 and Bass Reeves.
Now it looks like there is a chance that a new series revolving around everyone’s favourite problematic couple could be an option.
Speaking to Country Living, Rip Wheeler star Cole Hauser first talked of how his attention remained on the original drama.
“I’m so focused on finishing Yellowstone the way it needs to be finished right now — well, just the show itself. We’ll see where that leads.”
He then elaborated: “But I know that there’s some stuff on the horizon when it comes to Taylor’s ideas for Kelly Reilly and myself, and some of the other cast.
“I’m excited to see where he goes creatively with that. But right now, it’s just: Let’s finish strong; let’s do the best we can.”
His onscreen wife Kelly Reilly subtly echoed this sentiment to Radio Times in March: “What goes on beyond that [the original Yellowstone series]?
“There are discussions, you know. Don’t believe everything you read.
“It’s just nonsense. But we’re gonna, you know, let’s wait and see. I don’t have an answer right now. But we’ll see.”
There hasn’t been any confirmation that a Beth/Rip spin-off is in the works just yet but there are still plenty of other series to get excited about.
In April 2023, Paramount Media Networks President and CEO Chris McCarthy confirmed that Dallas Buyers’ Club actor Matthew McCounaughey would be set to join the Yellowstone universe.
He is to star in the next spin-off which has been given the title of 2024, so it is a spin-off rather than a prequel.
In addition to this, Sheridan will be taking another step back in time though with his other series entitled 1944.
