Mali has called in big sister Elandra to help track down their missing brother, and she reports that she’s on her way. Both siblings are worried sick, though, and the cracks are showing. On arrival, Elandra tells him that the Allens’ house has been dark for days, and Mali frets for Iluka’s future given the family’s brutal stabbing of Levi.
Away from the Bay, the Allens drop a beaten Iluka by the side of the road, where Theo finds him left for dead. He takes him back to his siblings, who are washed with relief.
Iluka refuses to seek medical attention, but when he coughs up blood, Elandra instructs Mali to call an ambulance. As he’s wheeled out by paramedics, Mali bristles with anger – he insists that the Allens can’t get away with this and they have to pay.
Meanwhile, Dana’s suspicions over Bronte are piqued again when she sees her dancing along to a busking Remi – hardly the actions of someone who’s terminally ill. She and Xander clash again over her cynical stance, and Xander hopes she’ll be persuaded when he shows her the now-working link to the clinical trial website on Bronte’s fundraiser. Dana holds firm though, and she’s disgusted to hear of Felicity’s plan to make further donations to the crowdfunder.
Fearing for the future of the Diner, Leah has attempted to convince Joseph to drop his lawsuit, and Irene intends on doing the same with Bronte. She’s relieved when her houseguest agrees to withdraw the legal action, but Bronte once again puts on a bold performance when she pretends to prepare for death, and Irene soon changes her mind again.
A relieved Leah reports later that Joseph has withdrawn his claim, and Dana is horrified when Irene tells her that Bronte has not, and that she’s merely letting Leah think their legal troubles are resolved. Can Dana expose Bronte’s lies before it’s too late to help Irene?
