Kevin Costner Doubts ‘Yellowstone’ Future Without His Influence After Shocking Exit: ‘It’s Not Going To Work’

Kevin Costner does not have great hopes for the future of the iconic series after he left the show in “Yellowstone” Season 5, a new report claimed. This is despite the fact that new spinoffs are currently in the process of being developed.

“It would give him a lot of quiet satisfaction seeing those guys fall flat on their faces for even attempting to breathe fresh life into the show he sees very much as his baby — not theirs,” an unnamed source told Life & Style Magazine, referring to Kevin’s reportedly tense relationship with producers and showrunner Taylor Sheridan.

“At the end of the day, Kevin thinks the Yellowstone bosses are running around like delusional headless chickens. His bottom line, however egotistical it may sound, is that without his genius — even on a consulting level — it’s not going to work,” the anonymous insider further told the entertainment news outlet.

In a video that was uploaded on his Instagram account in June, Kevin announced that he has finished working on the popular series, as was previously reported by OK! Magazine.

“Hi, everyone. I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon, and doing all the things that that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love and I know you love. I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5, or into the future,” Kevin said at the time.

“It was something that really changed me. I loved it and I know you loved it. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning. I love the relationship that we’ve been able to develop, and I’ll see you at the movies,” the “Yellowstone” lead star went on.

After conjecture about his genuine reasons for abandoning his tenure on the show, which ranged from rumors of conflicts with production personnel to the desire to pursue his own projects, the actor from “The Bodyguard” expressed his irritation that no one defended him in the midst of the negative publicity.

“I read all the stories. I was disappointed that nobody on their side… ever stepped up to defend what it was I actually did for them. There came a moment where I thought, ‘Wow, when is somebody going to say something about what I have done versus what I haven’t done?'” Kevin explained in a recent interview.

Business Times has reached out to Kevin Costner for comments about the true reason behind his departure from the populat “Yellowstone” series.
