Previously, in Tulsa King Season 2, we saw that Bevilaqua had sent his right-hand man to kill Dwight, but he’d failed in his mission. Dwight was all set to expand his business and start a hydroponic weed farm of his own. He made a deal with the Native Americans in the previous episode, and during the negotiations, he realized that even Thresher had approached them with an offer. Mitch told Dwight about Donnie’s car sales business and how it was a profitable venture to invest in. Bill Bevilaqua was livid after the dead body of his friend was sent back to him. He was itching to take revenge, he was just waiting for the right opportunity to arrive at his doorstep. So, let’s find out what happened in Tulsa King season 2, episode 5, and the kind of conflicts that entered Dwight’s life.
What was happening in Dwight’s personal life?
Dwight went together with Christina to check out a reputed educational institution where the latter wanted her kids, Cody and Ryan, to be admitted. The school had a unique curriculum that focused on teamwork and never compared children with one another. The administrator of the school told Dwight and Christina how they did not keep scores while making the kids play any sport and how during a play everybody got a chance to play similar roles, so that no child felt that they were not as good or important as their peers. Dwight came from a very different school of thought, and he didn’t understand how making the kids live in such an idealistic environment would help them in the real world. Dwight asked the administrators what they do to inculcate street smartness in their students. He wanted to know if Cody and Ryan would develop social intelligence and learn about how the real world actually functions. Christina told her father not to be so rigid and not to make a bad impression in front of the administrator. The school had a very low acceptance rate, and Christina really wanted her kids to be a part of the institution.
Later, in Tulsa King episode 5, we saw that Mitch started visiting Donnie’s car sales shop, as he wanted to learn more about the business. Also, Joana, Dwight’s sister, finally wanted Bodhi’s cannabis parlor, as she, too, wanted to be a part of the business, and she felt that she had some creative ideas that the venture could profit from. Tyson came up to Dwight and asked him when he was waging a war against Bill Bevilaqua, as the man had tried to kill Dwight. But Dwight told him that he had no such intentions and that he didn’t want to waste his resources and manpower doing something so reckless. Dwight didn’t want to go to war, but his enemies did not share such views. They wanted to get the better of him and take control of Tulsa at all costs.
Why did Vince want to have a meetup?
Now Vince, as we saw in season 2, episode 4, wanted to have a meetup where everybody could sit and talk peacefully. After Chickie passed out in the previous episode, Vince had a talk with Bevilaqua, who wanted to know how New York was going to respond to Dwight. Vince believed that, apart from peaceful negotiations, there were not many options left for them. Vince revealed the same thing to Chickie in episode 5, and the latter agreed to negotiate, but he didn’t think it would make their situation any better. Vince gave Goodie a call and asked him to tell Dwight to come for a meetup in Atlanta. Goodie told Dwight about it, and probably in episode 6, we might see the friends turned adversaries meeting together under one roof. I don’t think there would be any positive outcome, as the kind of hatred Chickie and Bevilaqua had for Dwight overpowered everything. Also, one thing that became very clear in episode 5 was that Vince was not a fan of Chickie. He didn’t like Chickie going about his business. He didn’t like how the man couldn’t handle his alcohol. Maybe in the future, just like Goodie, Vince would also decide to change sides because he was realizing that among all of them, Dwight Manfredi was the only sensible one who didn’t let his impulsiveness drive his actions.
What happened between Dwight and Thresher?
Armand once again was behind his payments, and he didn’t give Tyson any money when he came to ask for their cut. Armand was getting close to Thresher, and though Dwight might have known that they were on speaking terms, he didn’t know that the former had taken money from Thresher. Dwight and Thresher came face-to-face at Margaret’s stable. There was a heated argument between both of them, and Margaret had to intervene to make them stop. Margaret told Dwight that Thresher was an insecure and extremely obsessive man. He was also very territorial when it came to his personal and professional life. Thresher told Dwight to his face that he wouldn’t let him have whatever he wanted. Later in season 2, episode 5, Thresher’s men went and destroyed the machinery kept at the hydroponic farm. Dwight and his men arrived just in time, and they thrashed Thresher’s goons and taught them a lesson. Later that evening, Dwight went on a date with Margaret, and the restaurant manager came and told them that Thresher had sent one of their best champagnes for them. Dwight understood at that moment that Thresher was not going to go down without a fight.
Also, at the end of Tulsa King season 2, episode 5, Thresher gave a call to Bevilaqua and asked him to join forces. Thresher was not happy with his partner Jackie, and they had a lot of conflicts. I believe that in the subsequent episodes, a shift of allegiance will be on the cards, and we might see a lot of people changing sides. It would be interesting to see what happens during the meetup that Vince has planned and what Bevilaqua and Thresher end up doing.
