Yellowstone’s upcoming spinoff The Madison has cast a 3 Body Problem actor as a new character, further expanding Taylor Sheridan’s Western franchise. The Madison’s story follows the wealthy Stacy Clyburn (Michelle Pfeiffer), who moves her family from New York City to Montana following the death of her husband and brother-in-law. Filming began in 2024, with locations in Montana, New York, and Texas, with the series expected to premiere some time in 2025. However, it’s unclear yet as to how the show will connect to its parent series, whose final episodes start airing in November.

Now, Variety has confirmed Ben Schnetzer, who portrayed the young version of Mike Evans in 3 Body Problem, will be joining the cast of The Madison. Schnetzer will portray Van, “a salt-of-the-earth and neighborly Montana rancher” who Stacy will meet during the course of the series. While nothing else has been revealed about the character, the actor’s previous work indicates he’ll be an intriguing fit for the Yellowstone spinoff.

He’s An Interesting Choice For The Yellowstone Spinoff

Aside from his role on the cast of 3 Body Problem, Schnetzer is also known for playing Mark Ashton in the 2014 historical film Pride. The movie earned him nominations at the British Independent Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor and Most Promising Newcomer. Since then, he’s also starred as Gabriel Sol in Snowden, Russ Shepherd in The Grizzlies, and Parker in Saint Judy. On TV, he’s played Marcus Goldman in The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair and starred as Yorick Brown in FX’s Y: The Last Man.

Given his versatile acting career, Schnetzer will be a strong addition to The Madison, which already stars the likes of Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams, Beau Garrett, and Elle Chapman. Since Yellowstone season 5 part 2 will be the end of the main series – despite reports season 6 is being floated around – his performance will be important to establishing the spinoff as a worthy successor. Given his talent across so many movies and shows for the last decade, it seems his inclusion in the series will help make it more interesting and engaging.

Our Take On Ben Schnetzer Joining The Madison
His Role Could Be A Key Element Of Yellowstone’s Continuation

While it’s still not clear how big a role Schnetzer’s Van will have in The Madison, his inclusion in the Yellowstone spinoff could be a key element to the show’s continuation. The spinoff will need memorable characters to fill its roster, helping elevate it to the same levels as its predecessor. By having a seasoned actor in an important role, the series can offer a perfect replacement for the original cast, giving the show its own sense of identity in the process.
