Yellowstone season 5, part 2, gets its first full-length trailer, teasing a climactic showdown for the Dutton family. Created by Taylor Sheridan, the hit Paramount Network neo-Western first aired in 2018, following Kevin Costner’s John Dutton and his family members as they fight to protect their Montana ranch. Yellowstone season 5 part 2 is now set to potentially bring the show to an end, with a premiere date set for November 10.
The official Yellowstone YouTube channel now releases a new trailer for season 5, part 2, showing audiences more of what’s to come from the upcoming episodes. The trailer teases that a blood bond alliance is on the way between Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), while Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) is set to play a pivotal role as he takes care of some Dutton dirty work. The conflict between Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Jamie (Wes Bentley) also looks to come to a violent head.
What The Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Trailer Means For The Final Episodes
Will This Be The Paramount Show’s Final Outing?
Though season 5, part 2, was originally poised to serve as the show’s final outing, it has since been reported that Yellowstone season 6 is now on the table as a possibility. It’s worth noting that, though the video’s description teases that “Generations of blood have led to this,” there’s nothing in the trailer hyping the episodes as the show’s conclusion. If Yellowstone season 5, part 2, was intended to serve as the end, it would surely be marketed as such, since leaning into a grand conclusion of a saga is an effective advertising tactic.
As for what the trailer reveals about the final episodes, the show certainly looks to be more violent and action-packed than ever. In addition to a character being pushed off a cliff, another being set on fire, and the potential for some gunfights, the trailer teases that more subtle back-stabbings and spying will also play a role in what’s to come. Jamie, in particular, looks to get his hands dirty in Yellowstone season 5, part 2, and he is shown wielding a gun, breaking into someone’s home, and doing some frantic shredding of documents as the FBI seemingly closes in.
Our Take On The Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Trailer
The Show’s Upcoming Batch Of Episodes Has Some Big Questions To Answer
Due to Yellowstone’s behind-the-scenes drama, Costner will not be reprising his role as John Dutton in season 5, part 2, and the trailer doesn’t totally reveal what’s next for the character. One line, however, “Old lions die in the jaws of younger lions,” could be a tease that the Dutton family patriarch’s storyline will end in death. With Costner not returning to film any new material, John’s off-screen death seems like a logical way to resolve that arc.
With Yellowstone spinoff The Madison also in the works, it’s possible that the final episodes will somehow set up what’s to come in that show as well. Many questions remain regarding the next batch of episodes for Yellowstone, but, thankfully, viewers now don’t have long to wait before the show returns.
