Stallone Was Ready to Step Back When ‘Tulsa King’ Came Up

Stallone, 78, previously told Newsweek that he was ready to step back and take it easy with his family before he was offered the series. But when the part came up, he was in.

“I was really very content with going, ‘Sayonara, I’ll see you around, it’s been a nice life’ and just go and I’ll go hang out with the family and all,” he said.

Referencing actor Al Pacino’s well-known line from The Godfather: Part III, he quipped: “And then this comes along and it’s like the Al Pacino line, they bring me back in – just when I was thought I was out.”

The actor said the role was “a challenge, something I’ve always wanted to do,” adding: “I couldn’t believe it, I’d spent my entire career never playing one gangster!”

Newsweek has emailed Paramount for comment.

Tulsa King’s season finale is on November 17.
