‘Yellowstone’ Fans Are Reeling Over This Wild Beth Dutton Theory

We’re officially halfway through Yellowstone season 5 part two, which means we’re just three episodes away from learning the Duttons’ fate. Of course, after episode 11 (the third episode since Yellowstone returned), some fans think they already know what’s going to happen—particularly to Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley).

During episode 11, Beth Dutton is seen in her Bentley speeding down a two-lane highway. In the scene, she looks amped up and fiery as ever while reciting Italian in what seems to be a Rosetta Stone-esque course. But why? While Beth is known to be the city-slicker among the Duttons, she’s committed herself to staying in Montana with the occasional trip to Texas to see Rip Wheeler while he’s away tending to the herd. In that sense, learning Italian doesn’t make much sense. However, as some fans pointed out on Instagram, this scene could be an easter egg indicating what’s to come.

“Why is she learning Italian? There has to be a clue for what she’s planning,” one fan speculated. “She’s learning Italian for a reason, people,” someone else remarked. “She’s learning how to hire the REAL, REAL Italian mafia to retaliate and take care of the threats and the enemies of @yellowstone ranch,” another fan commented. “Spin-off Beth and Rip vs Italian Mafia,” another Instagrammer chimed in.

As much as we’d love to see Yellowstone involve the Italian mafia in a plot that largely feels like a Western-mafia drama, it’s not entirely likely that that’s the case. (Unless, of course, the folks that killed Sarah Atwood at the end of the episode were, in fact, part of the Italian mafia and hired by Beth, as opposed to being ordered by the people Sarah was working with to accomplish the hit on John Dutton.) With that in mind, it’s hard not to side with the fans who feel Beth’s Bentley scene was nothing short of a waste of precious time.

“I feel like this whole scene was a total waste of time considering there are only two episodes left, and there are so many loose ends that need to be tied up,” one fan complained. “Very erratic ending coming up. This episode was a little lame—with only a few episodes left, it’s all going to be very rushed. Hopefully, it’s not [anticlimactic] because it’s been a great show,” another fan weighed in.
