Jason Statham has reunited with his The Beekeeper director, David Ayer, for the new action movie, A Working Man. The upcoming feature was written by action genre legend Sylvester Stallone, who previously worked with Statham on the Expendables movies.

Similar to The Beekeeper, Statham’s A Working Man character, Levon Cade, initially comes across as an ordinary construction worker. However, Cade is hiding a decorated military career in the black ops that he left behind following his wife’s death. “When his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined,” reads the official synopsis for A Working Man. Stallone’s Balboa Productions originally acquired the rights to Chuck Dixon’s novel, Levon’s Trade, intending to adapt it as a television series. However, by 2023, Levon’s Trade had been reworked into a feature-length film, with Ayer and Statham attached to direct and star. This marks Statham’s fourth time starring in a Stallone-penned movie after the first two Expendables and the 2013 action-thriller Homefront. In January 2024, MGM acquired U.S. distribution rights to Levon’s Trade. Filming kicked off in April 2024 in London and lasted until the end of May. In December 2024, Levon’s Trade was retitled to A Working Man and given its March 2025 release date.

Who Else Stars in A Working Man?

Besides Statham, A Working Man features the acting talents of David Harbour, Michael Peña, Jason Flemyng, Arianna Rivas, Noemi Gonzalez, Emmett J. Scanlan, Eve Mauro, Maximilian Osinski, Kristina Poli, Andrej Kaminsky, and Isla Gie. Ayer previously worked with Harbour and Peña in Suicide Squad (2016) and Fury (2014), respectively.

Amazon MGM Studios is likely hoping that A Working Man will be as successful at the box office as The Beekeeper was around this time last year. The 2024 action-thriller starred Statham as Adam Clay, a retired clandestine human intelligence operative who is living a quiet life as a beekeeper until his kind-hearted landlady, Eloise Parker, commits suicide after becoming the victim of a phishing scam that resulted in millions of dollars being stolen from a charity she ran. With Clay in the crosshairs of both the phishing company and the FBI, he must work quickly to exact revenge on behalf of Parker.

The Beekeeper grossed over $153 million worldwide against a $40 million budget. The movie also earned mostly favorable reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes noting that 71 percent of critics’ reviews were positive. Besides Statham, the cast consisted of Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Minnie Driver, Jemma Redgrave, Phylicia Rashad, and Jeremy Irons.

A Working Man hits theaters on Mar. 28.
