‘What is going on?’ Stallone, who was previously rejected as an extra in the famous ‘Godfather’ wedding scene, asked fans.

Sylvester Stallone is sending a message to fans after fake trailers for The Godfather Part 4—in which he is painted as the star—went viral online.

“What is going on?” he captioned screen grabs from the fan-made videos via Instagram on Wednesday, Jan. 15. “Lol this is definitely not to be taken seriously!”

Though some fans appeared disappointed that Stallone, 78, wasn’t going to be the lead in another installment of the famous gangster franchise, many followers petitioned for him to star in the next film, if there is one.

“This could be a thing though, if you really think about it. The next level to Tulsa King,” wrote one social media user, referencing Stallone’s hit Paramount+ series.

Another said, “Owwww… Get a team together and make a new series of this movie, please,” while a separate follower added, “If this were true you would be so perfect for that role!”

Though Stallone has made a name for himself playing tougher-than-nails characters—including Rocky Balboa in the Rocky franchise, John Rambo in the Rambo movies and Dwight “The General” Manfredi in Tulsa King—he was actually rejected from being an extra in the famous wedding scene in The Godfather.

“I went to Paramount, and said, ‘Can I be an extra in the wedding scene?’” Stallone recalled while speaking to Empire Magazine in 2022. “They said, ‘Yeah, we don’t know if you’re the type of guy.’ I go, ‘I’m not the type? To play in the background, hiding behind a f–king wedding cake?’”
