Laura Wright explained that a day after Cameron Mathison lost his house, her character Carly had to yell at Drew, so she apologized in advance.
Drew has certainly been kind of a sleaze on General Hospital lately, causing many fans to dislike his character. However, Drew’s portrayer, Cameron Mathison, suffered a real-life tragedy when his home was ravaged by the LA wildfire. Fans put aside their disdain for Drew to find compassion for Mathison. Amidst this turmoil, his co-star Laura Wright found the need to say she was sorry to Mathison because of a work-related issue.
She Apologized Before Yelling at Him
Things have been tense on GH, especially since Drew has been sleeping with his nephew’s wife, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen). The nephew in question is Carly’s (Laura Wright) son, Michael (Chad Duell), who was badly burned after a bomb went off. Drew has been keeping up his dalliance with Willow, and that’s raised Carly’s ire to the point where she yelled at him.
EW got an advance peek at The Jennifer Hudson Show, which had several GH cast members on as guests. Wright was among them and revealed that the timing of her scenes with Mathison and the burning of his house was just terrible. “I had to yell at Cameron,” she explained, which occurred the day after his tragedy happened. “I had to go up to Cameron, and I’m like, ‘Can I please hug you? ‘Cause I’m getting ready to start yelling in your face,’ ”
He Felt She Was Sweet
Mathison found her words humorous and chimed in, stating, “She came up and apologized first. My character has got reason to be yelled at at the moment!” He certainly does since Carly found a tie that she’d given to Drew when they were a couple sticking out of Willow and Michael’s couch. Meanwhile, poor Michael is convalescing in Germany, where he’s getting experimental burn treatments.
Mathison continued, explaining, “Laura was very sweet. She’s like, ‘I’m so sorry, but I’ve got to lay into you today after you just lost your house and everything you own.’ ” He further noted that the devastation of his family’s home was an almost insurmountable trauma. However, ever the positive person, he stated, “It’s just so unnerving, but at the same time, we’re all gonna get through it step by step, day by day, put the pieces back together. L.A. strong.”
