RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 is coming to an end. The cast of 14 has been winnowed down to just six. After only cutting three queens in the first six weeks of the series, the Badonka Dunk Tank twist is over, and that means we’re finally getting down to business.
This week, the seven remaining queens were tasked with an acting challenge inspired by Ryan Murphy’s Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. Truman Capote was swapped out for a Drag Race mainstay with “Ross Matthews vs. The Ducks.”
After Arrietty’s goodbye message left Onya Nurve in tears at the beginning of the episode, the queens headed to set to act their fake boobs off (literally). Then with no safe queens for the first time this season, all seven contenders remained on the Main Stage for critiques from the judges, including Sam Smith. Two queens fell to the bottom, and one more girl was sent packing as we near the finale.

Proving yet again you can go from the top one week to the bottom the next on Drag Race, last week’s winner, “Miss Butthole,” was told to sashay away this week. After a generally strong acting challenge, Lydia and Lana, who were a smidge overshadowed by their scene partners, were placed in the bottom. It seemed to be an ill-advised attempt to cut her dress off, though, that ultimately led to Lydia’s elimination.
In related news, this week we also got RuPaul asking the queens, “Who should go home and why?” Despite the queens’ general messiness this season, five of them gave cop-out answers, saying the judges should eliminate either Onya Nurve or Suzie Toot, two of the frontrunners. Only Onya and Suzie gave valid answers, with Onya calling out Lydia and Suzie naming Lana.

Onya became the first queen on Season 17 to earn three wins after her turn as Big Fupa secured her another victory. We’ve known Onya was a frontrunner for a while, but this all but cements her spot in the finale. She’d have to really screw something up not to be actively considered for the crown.
