Cosgrove is a veteran soap actor, having appeared on All My Children, Guiding Light, Days of Our Lives, and As the World Turns. He has also appeared in the comedy film Van Wilder, the series In Justice, and the drama Dirty Sexy Money. But, the role that any 90s teen or twenty-something will remember him for is Matt Durning in the mega-hit show Beverly Hills, 90210.
90210 was appointment TV in the ’90s, and its young cast became superstars. Matt was not part of the original cast and didn’t join the series until season nine. He came to the show as a good-guy attorney who fell for Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth). The character was filling the void left by Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley).
Matt’s big secret was that he had a wife who was in a mental institution in New York due to schizophrenia. She appeared back in his life when they found a medication to help her. Kelly broke up with him so he could fix his marriage, but unfortunately, the medication failed. His wife gave him a divorce so he could be with Kelly. They were happy for a while, but things turned for the couple when Dylan McKay (Luke Perry) reappeared in their lives. The relationship went back and forth for some time until the end of the series when Kelly and Dylan once again got back together.
Port Charles Bound
Cosgrove has left Beverly Hills behind and has arrived in Port Charles. The actor originally auditioned for the recast of Jack Brennan, but that went to Chris McKenna.
The Ezra character is very new, and what he is up to is a mystery. He may work to help Drew (Cameron Mathison), or there is a chance he is working against him. He may be the help the town needs to take down the congressman. Either way, he is a new face on GH and is sure to cause some tension. Who knows?
