A New Yellowstone Spin Off Tentatively Titled ‘The Madison’ Is In the Works

There’s word of a new Yellowstone show making headlines. This week, TVLine exclusively revealed that there’s a new spin off tentatively titled The Madison in the works, with some major players rumored to be involved.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams, and Beau Garrett are all reportedly close to signing deals for the series, which is said to, “follow wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn and her family as they leave New York City and head to Montana in the wake of her husband and brother-in-law’s tragic deaths in a plane crash.” Pfeiffer would, presumably, be poised to take on the role of Stacy, but little else is known about the potential casting.

Per TVLine, The Madison is slated to begin production this month, with filming planned for Montana and New York, as well as Texas, where filming for the second season of the prequel 1923 is also currently underway. Reportedly, Paramount Network plans for The Madison to begin airing after Yellowstone concludes its final season, though as yet the network has not commented on the series.

Most notable for fans of creator Taylor Sheridan’s universe of Yellowstone shows may be the fact that Pfeiffer was previously rumored to star alongside Matthew McConaughey in a spin off operating under the working title 2024.

That series, which was announced last fall along with an additional prequel series 1944 (following on the heels of Sheridan’s Dutton-focused 1883 and 1923) has been the source of speculation for over year as McConaughey was originally rumored to be joining the Yellowstone as far back as February 2023. However, despite the persistent word that the star was in talks for the project, no casting confirmations ever materialized—a worrisome proposition considering that 2024 was scheduled to begin airing after Yellowstone makes its final bow later this year.

If The Madison is indeed the latest iteration of 2024, it would seem to indicate that McConaughey (who was said to be growing impatient over the protracted negotiations) is no longer involved. Likewise it would appear to nix the chances of current Yellowstone stars Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, and Luke Grimes joining the series, despite word that they were close to signing on for the project earlier this year.

However there has also been speculation that the new series may, in fact, be a separate spin off, with plans for 2024 still in the works.
