One of Taylor Sheridan’s most acclaimed shows is close to its anticipated return following a lengthy layoff. Sheridan’s Paramount+ crime drama, Tulsa King, nears its Season 2 premiere over a year and a half after Season 1 ended.

Paramount+ will debut Tulsa King Season 2 on Sept. 15, 19 months after the Season 1 finale aired in January 2023. Featuring legendary actor Sylvester Stallone in the lead role, Tulsa King recently released its latest trailer, with Stallone teasing a “gang war” that will break out in the upcoming season.

Tulsa King chronicles Stallone’s central character, Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a mafia capo sent to the titular Oklahoman city after serving 25 years in prison for murder. The Season 2 trailer shows Dwight and his cohorts planning different potential business ventures and looking to take over Tulsa before meeting opposition from Kansas-based mobster, Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo), and Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough), a territorial local business owner, triggering a nasty turf battle.

Tulsa King Has Been a Big Hit for Paramount+

Season 1 of Tulsa K ing became a success story for Paramount following its 2022 release. Tulsa King became the fourth-most-viewed Sheridan-created Paramount+ series, with 3.36 billion minutes viewed. The series debut also led to the biggest new subscriber day in Paramount+ history and attracted 3.4 million viewers on CBS. The show earned a 79% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with Stallone’s performance receiving much praise. Shortly after Season 1 premiered, Paramount renewed Tulsa King for a second season.

Tulsa King Season 2 also stars Martin Starr, Jay Will, Max Casella, Vincent Piazza, Andrea Savage and Annabella Sciorra. Stallone recently revealed plot details for the upcoming season, revealing on his Instagram, “I’m in court. It’s going to be an interesting scene in Tulsa King. I’m enjoying the process. It’s different. We have to travel about an hour and a half to an old courthouse where I have to appeal my case. I’m my own lawyer, so that could turn out good or bad.”

Tulsa King is one of the multiple crime dramas by Sheridan that air on Paramount’s streaming platform. The Jeremy Renner-led Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 concluded earlier this month and earned series-high critical reviews (75% on Rotten Tomatoes), leading to speculation about a potential Season 4 renewal. Meanwhile, Sheridan is set to release the final few episodes of Yellowstone’s fifth and final season, with Season 5B of his award-winning Western drama series premiering on Nov. 10. Several other Yellowstone spinoffs are also in development, including 1944 and The Madison, with the latter starring Michelle Pfeiffer.
