Happy birthday, Alley Mills.
The Bold and the Beautiful’s Pam Douglas takes any and every opportunity to celebrate — even the smallest occasion will do — and General Hospital’s Heather Webber wishes she could, and now their portrayer, Alley Mills, has a milestone to celebrate, too.
Happy Birthday, Alley Mills
That’s because she was born on May 9, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, which means that this talented TV veteran is turning 73 years old today! Mills’s acting career began with a bit role in the 1970 film Diary of a Mad Housewife.
That was followed by subsequent guest appearances on programs such as The Waltons, Kaz, Lou Grant, Making the Grade, Newhart, and Moonlighting. She also had a starring role in two comedy series: The Associates and Making the Grade.
Though Mills is perhaps most famous for her role of housewife and mother Norma Arnold on the hit dramedy The Wonder Years, she also maintained recurring roles in popular primetime series, such as Hill Street Blues and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
Her other acting credits include episodes of Punky Brewster, Touched By an Angel, Profiler, Popular, and NYPD Blue, as well as made-for-television movies like A Matter of Life and Death, The Other Woman, and Tainted Blood.
Mills has played Pamela Douglas, Stephanie’s sister, on The Bold and the Beautiful — in both a “starring” and a “recurring” compacity — since December 1, 2006. Initially billed as a “limited role,” Mills was offered a new contract the following year. She is always there for her brother-in-law Eric and has had a romance with Charlie (Dick Christie) for years.
This past year, she took on the almost impossible job of replacing Robin Mattson in the role of GH’s Heather Webber. The character went on a killing spree on behalf of her surprise daughter, but it looks like she may see some redemption? Or not…
Mills’s late husband was film, stage, television star, game show panelist, and author Orson Bean. The two were married from 1993 until his death in 2020.
