Last seen in an action role in the film Prisoner’s Daughter, the actor in an exclusive interview with MovieWeb stated he would love to take up more action roles.

“I’m all for expanding, going into new territory. I mean, to be a 77-year-old action star might be something quite interesting to do. You know, I’m not against it. I’m not against that at all. In fact, I’m very glad you brought it up, because I’m really not against that at all. I’ve often thought, ‘Oh, I could maybe do all that.’”

Seeing how eager he is to embark into the action territory, the question arises as to why he hasn’t done it yet. To answer that he stated and also revealed the one condition he has for being in an action film,

“But I haven’t done it because it’s just been a different world. But if I would do it, it’d only be if it was a great script. I wouldn’t do it if it was just some sort of hokum.”

Brian Cox being 77 and willing to venture into a genre that not even most in their 50s would like to explore, proves that the actor is dedicated to his craft and the audience, unafraid to challenge norms to create an alluring experience for his audience.

Succession, ever since its premiere in 2018, has received incredible audience reception and has been successfully hailed as one of the best TV series of all time. Praised for its writing, acting, humor, and storyline, even the final season of the critically acclaimed drama bagged numerous awards at the 2023 Emmy Awards.

Winning six awards – Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series– (via The Guardian) out of 27 nominations (via The Guardian), the drama series ended its run with a splendid event. Despite its praise-worthy four seasons, the audience is desperate for more, which prompts the question- Will there be a Succession movie?

Answering it in an interview with Variety, Cox stated,

“We’ll see. If it’s good enough and [series creator] Jesse Armstrong wants to do it, I might do it.”

While it would be tough to know what the storyline of the potential movie would be since Cox’s character was killed off in the third episode of Succession season 4, having him back as his titular character would be a real treat for the fans.
