Bridgerton Season 4 Sneak Peek Teases Tension Between Sophie & Benedict’s Siblings

Netflix’s upcoming Bridgerton Season 4 has received two new photos, providing fans with a closer look at some of the main cast members for the next installment of the hit romance drama. The series is based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling regency book series, which takes place in an alternate history.

Following Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s love story, Bridgerton Season 4 will revolve around the unlikely romance between the free-spirited Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek, who are respectively portrayed by series alum Luke Thompson, and new cast member Yerin Ha. In the first photo shared by Netflix on X, it seems like Benedict and Sophie’s families will get a chance to meet each other through what looks like a friendly house visit. However, from the looks of their faces, it seems like Benedict’s sisters Eloise and Hyacinth aren’t really fond of Sophie’s stepsisters, teasing the potential bad blood between the two families.

As for the second photo, it features a glimpse of the reunion between Eloise and her best friend-turned-sister-in-law Penelope. For the most part of Season 3, Eloise and Penelope avoided each other, after Eloise discovered that Penelope was the mastermind behind Lady Whistledown. During a recent interview with EW, showrunner Jess Brownell teased what to expect from Eloise and Penelope after finally mending their friendship last season, confirming that their bond has gotten stronger than ever. “They’re more bonded than ever!” she said. “Their trials and tribulations last season have added new depth to their friendship, and we’re excited for viewers to see how their relationship looks now that they’ve each grown up a little.”

Bridgerton is executive produced by Brownell, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen. The next installment will also star returning cast members Jonathan Bailey as Anthony, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope, Hannah Dodd as Francesca Stirling, Ruth Gemmell as Violet, Florence Hunt as Bridgerton, Claudia Jessie as Bridgerton, Luke Newton as Colin, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Will Tilston as Gregory, Polly Walker as Portia Featherington, and more. Even though Penelope was unmasked as the real Lady Whistledown last season, it seems she will still be continuing her gossip column, with acclaimed star Julie Andrews returning to voice the narrator.

Bridgerton Season 4 Expands Cast

Besides Yerin Ha’s Sophie Baek, Bridgerton Season 4 will also be introducing her character’s complicated family: Harry Potter alum Katie Leung as Sophie’s stepmother Lady Araminta Gun; Michelle Mao as Araminta’s eldest daughter and Sophie’s step-sister Rosamund Li; and Isabella Wei as Posy Li, Araminta’s youngest daughter who’s described as the much kinder step-sister of Sophie. In addition, Masali Baduza and Hugh Sachs have also been promoted as series regulars for Season 4. They will be reprising their respective roles as Michaela Stirling and Brimsley. The official synopsis for Season 4 reads, “Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
