The main settings for the three shows that make up the “Yellowstone” franchise might not be locations in Texas but that doesn’t mean the Lone Star State doesn’t influence the popular television programs.
Taylor Sheridan, the creator of “Yellowstone” and its prequels “1883” and “1923,” is a native Texan. The famous Four Sixes ranch is a setting in Season 4 and Season 5 of “Yellowstone.” The characters in “1883” traveled through Fort Worth on their way to Montana.
Now “1923” is filming scenes for its second season in different parts of Texas.
The show filmed this week in Galveston, and has been filming in other Texas cities this summer as well. It’s not the only show filming in the state, either, and not the only one locals can star as an extra in.

Both “1923” and “Yellowstone” have put out casting calls for extras roles in Texas during the past few weeks.
The roles are posted on Facebook. Yellowstone Extras Casting is a Facebook page run by the casting personnel associated with the show. Legacy Casting is another Facebook page that posts casting calls for “1923” and other programs.
Three extras roles have been posted over the last few days for “Yellowstone.” For those looking to find themselves on television, even if for a split second, your chance might have arrived.

Country singer-songerwriter Laney Wilson has a role in the fifth season of “Yellowstone,” and there’s an open call for extra people to appear in a scene of her performing a concert. There aren’t much details on the casting call about the scene itself but it will be filmed Sept. 3 in Fort Worth.
Stand-ins for between Aug. 18 and Sept. 8
“Yellowstone” is looking for men and women stand-ins for shots over a multi-week span. The actors are not needed for every day during that time frame but availability is expected for both days and nights.
