Clint Eastwood Is Bringing A Thrilling Story Back To The Silver Screen With Nicholas Hoult And J.K. Simmons

Clint Eastwood stepped in to direct a legal thriller with Nicholas Hoult last year and he is bringing Juror No. 2 to the screen soon. The film, written by Jonathan Abrams, will also star J.K. Simmons, Toni Collette, Zoey Deutch, and Kiefer Sutherland. The film explores Hoult as juror Justin Kemp who realizes he could be responsible for the victim’s death on a murder trial he’s on.

Earlier, reports suggested that the film wouldn’t hit theaters in 2024 citing Oscar prediction purposes. However, the film was announced to be released on November 1, 2024, in the UK and Ireland, hinting that it could get a US release date this year as well.

Clint Eastwood’s Legal Thriller Starring Nicholas Hoult All Set To Hit Theaters

94-year-old Clint Eastwood is all set to bow out of the industry with the legal thriller, Juror No. 2. Earlier, sources shared with THR that the Unforgiven director hoped to “ride off into the sunset with his head held high.” The legendary actor has two Best Director Oscars to his name and fans hope he gets his third one for his potential last film.

According to the latest reports, the film starring Nicholas Hoult will hit theaters in the UK and Ireland on November 1. Variety‘s Clayton Davis reported last month that the film would be delayed to 2025 for better chances at the Oscars. However, it appears that the film would be released in US theaters around the same time too.

Hoult will star as Justin Kemp, one of the jurors on a murder trial, while Tony Collette will play the prosecutor. THR reported that Chris Messina would play the public defender, Zoey Deutch as Kemp’s wife, and Kiefer Sutherland as Kemp’s AA sponsor. Hoult’s character has a moral dilemma when he finds out that he could’ve accidentally killed the victim in the case.

Veteran actor J.K. Simmons also joined the cast of the film in December. He will play one of the jurors alongside Hoult. Simmons will be a valuable addition to the film, which has set its eye on the next year’s Oscars. Simmons won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Whiplash.

Eastwood also produces the movie under his production house, Malpaso Productions. Dichotomy Films and Gotham Group also serve as the production companies on the project.

Clint Eastwood Would Look To Redeem Himself After Cry Macho

Clint Eastwood’s last film before Juror No. 2 was the modern-day Western Cry Macho in 2021. The film also featured him in a starring role and was not well-received in theaters. Eastwood’s performance in the film drew polarized responses from the audience. According to Box Office Mojo, the film only grossed $16 million against a $33 million budget.

Fans hope that Eastwood will make a comeback and have a grand exit with Juror No. 2. Interestingly, he has been putting considerable effort into the film ever since it was greenlit at Warner Bros. He tried finding the right combination of talents to star in his movie for months before casting Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.
