Clint Eastwood’s Most Iconic Western Of All Time Gets A New Streaming Home Next Month

Clint Eastwood may have put himself on the map as the quintessential Western movie star, but Unforgiven may have solidified the actor/director as an icon. The 1992 Eastwood-directed movie written by David Webb Peoples, will stream on Paramount+ beginning November 1.

The revisionist Western set in the town of Big Whiskey, Wyoming also stars Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman. The movie boasts a stellar 96% critic score and 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Unforgiven was nominated for nine Oscars in 1993 and won four. Clint Eastwood took home the Academy Award for Best Director and the film was awarded Best Picture. Hackman won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Joel Cox won for Best Film Editing.

Clint Eastwood Plays a Retired Gunfighter

The movie begins when a cowboy attacks a prostitute for mocking him and after the brothel owner detains the cowboy and his friend, the owner seeks to be compens ated.

Sheriff “Little” Bill Daggett (Hackman) ends up punishing the cowboy with just a slap on the wrist, but in response, the prostitutes gather enough money to put a bounty on the heads of the cowboys.

The audience is then introduced to William Munny (Eastwood), who plays a retired gunfighter with a history of violence, who is regretful of his past. Munny, along with Ned Logan (Freeman) and a young bounty hunter, Schofield Kid (Jaimz Woolvett) pursue the bounty paced by the sex workers.

Eastwood went on to win two more Academy Awards for his 2004 film, Million Dollar Baby. He won Best Director and Best Picture at the 2005 Oscars for the film starring Hilary Swank. Swank also took home the Academy Award that year for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.

Another classic Eastwood film, A Fistful of Dollars (1964) will be getting a remake, per Deadline.The film will likely be a similar story to the original Sergio Leone movie, which was an unofficial remake of the Japanese film Yojimbo.

The movie has not been cast, nor is there a director/writer attached to it. However, the remake will be coming from producers Gianni Nunnari (300) and Simon Horsman’s (Magazine Dreams) Euro Gang Entertainment with FPC’s Enzo Sisti and the producer of the original movie, Jolly Film.

Clint Eastwood’s Juror No. 2 Is Coming Out on November 1

At 94, Eastwood isn’t slowing down, having directed the upcoming Juror No. 2 starring Zoey Deutch (Set it Up), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class), Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine, Knives Out), Kiefer Sutherland (24, Designated Survivor), Chris Messina (Argo, Birds of Prey), J.K. Simmons (Saturday Night) and Francesca Eastwood.

The movie is set for a November 1 release and follows a family man named Justin Kemp (Hoult) who serves as a juror on a high-profile case and finds himself facing a moral dilemma.

According to reports, Eastwood wanted to find one final project to do after his latest film Cry Macho (2021) did not perform as expected. But, the question remains if Juror No. 2 is that film. The movie was written by Jonathan Abrams, and is the writer’s first original script.

Unforgiven streams on Paramount+ beginning November 1.
