Just before a legal battle with Taylor Sheridan, Cole Hauser had expressed significant admiration for the Yellowstone creator.

Cole, who portrays Rip Wheeler in the popular neo-Western, has become a fan favorite, particularly due to his on-screen relationship with Beth, played by Kelly Reilly.

Their characters, celebrated for their authenticity and relatability, are crucial to the narrative of the series.

Fans particularly enjoy the dynamic and imperfect nature of their relationship, which Cole attributes to Taylor’s skill in character development.

In discussions about his character creation, Cole offered high praise for Taylor’s approach.

Cole shared his thoughts on the flawed and human nature of the characters on Yellowstone, appreciating how they reflect real-life imperfections.
“I would say they’re imperfect and I think a lot of people want to see that. I don’t watch all the television shows that are out there right now, so I can’t speak for all of them, but I think what Taylor does really well is he writes them imperfect,” Cole shared in an interview with Moviefone.

Cole also noted the strength and depth of the characters’ relationships, both within and outside their romantic entanglements.

The actor believes this genuine and robust portrayal of love and struggle is what draws people to the show.

Despite his previous commendations, Cole found himself in a legal dispute with Taylor.

Taylor, a multifaceted talent in the entertainment industry, also owns Bosque Ranch, while Cole owns a coffee business named Free Rein.

The contention arose over alleged similarities between the logos used by Bosque Ranch and Free Rein’s coffee brand.

Bosque Ranch accused Free Rein of trademark infringement, unfair competition, and false advertising, claiming that the resemblance was causing significant damage to their brand.

The lawsuit, which sought to address these grievances, brought the two professionals into a courtroom showdown.

The legal confrontation between Cole and Taylor was short-lived, with the lawsuit being filed in November 2023 and dropped by December 20, 2023.

Taylor’s legal team requested the District Judge to dismiss the case, ensuring that Taylor could not sue Cole on the same or a related issue in the future.

Meanwhile, Yellowstone fans are eagerly anticipating the final chapters of the series.

The fifth and concluding season of Yellowstone was split into two parts, with the second set to premiere on Paramount+ in November 2024.
