This season of RuPaul’s Drag Race is nearing its end, and it’s been an interesting watch so far. Throughout the season, there have been moments that felt a little off. For me, seeing Crystal Envy leave so early was one of them. The “Dunk a Queen” for safety twist wasn’t my favourite either—but overall, the contestants who have made it to the penultimate episode feel right. It’s always satisfying when the strongest queens make it to the endgame and get a real shot at the crown.
However, in a world where social media runs rampant, it’s easy to read into things. I know from experience—dating all the way back to the MySpace days—that you can spot patterns and revelations just by paying attention. Contestants on any show will follow those they like, and avoid those they don’t. Their activity and interactions with one another can reveal subtle signs of what’s to come.
Spoilers can be frustrating, but also intriguing. Sometimes, people seek them out, while other times, they pop up unexpectedly—whether through Instagram reels or social media timelines. I try to avoid them for my favorite shows, but unfortunately, while scrolling through Instagram, I saw something that caught my eye.
Users began to notice that Ariana Grande—why they checked, I’m not sure—was only following four contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race 17. Ariana has been a guest judge and longtime fan of the show, but it seemed odd that she would randomly choose to follow just four queens. It felt like a spoiler. So, let’s dive into this—was it a conspiracy, an accidental reveal, or just something she assumed would go unnoticed?
Spoilers ahead, at least, we think they may be?
Ariana Grande’s instagram activity: A clue or just coincidence?
As RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 approaches its finale, fans have been buzzing about Ariana Grande’s Instagram activity. Weeks ago, Ariana began following four queens from the season: Lexi Love, Sam Star, Jewels Sparkles, and Onya Nurve. Notably, she has not followed Suzie Toot, who is currently considered a frontrunner, and still also in the competition.
This selective following has led to speculation that Ariana might appear as a guest judge in the upcoming finale. However, it’s important to note that such theories are based on observation and have not been confirmed by official sources, well, as far as I know. I may have missed something, but I don’t believe there has been any announcement in any which way that Ariana Grande is going to be on this season in any way.
Currently, RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 is at the final five, and the family members of the contestants are on their way to be put into drag. The timeline of when fans began noticing who Ariana had followed was weeks ago, when Lana, Lydia, and even Arriety were all still in the competition.
So, are we getting a “final five robbery” with Suzi Toot this Friday? Is this a legitimate spoiler, or just speculation? How do you feel about Ariana Grande being such a super fan that she followed the contestants she met to support them, but in turn, possibly spoiled the end of the season? Is her finger just on the pulse! In the past Ariana Grande followed all the queens who she had met in Season 15. So it would be strange for her to just hand pick four of the eventual final five, weeks on weeks before we got to this stage. Does our Glinda the good witch know something that we do not?
So It’s an interesting situation—Ariana may have been supporting the queens, but her Instagram activity might’ve unintentionally given away some hints about how things will play out.
The final four of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17
Let’s take what Ariana Grande has done as gospel—she followed four queens, and it makes sense. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the entire cast treat Suzie Toot as a frontrunner, to the point where, in a recent episode, they collectively decided she should be the one to go home. Instead of choosing contestants who were actually struggling, they targeted her simply for being too good.
The edit is heavily hinting that Suzie may ultimately fall victim to the final five curse—a notorious position across reality competition shows like Survivor and Big Brother. It’s often referred to as the glory spot, where a strong frontrunner is shockingly eliminated, completely shifting the game’s trajectory. It’s the kind of moment that keeps viewers engaged, outraged, and hooked until the very end.
And honestly, it tracks. Looking at the five remaining queens, we have Sam Star, whose biggest critique in the last episode was that she was too pretty and failed to make an intentionally ugly garment. Then there’s Jewels Sparkles—while she has her flops, she never quite makes a big enough splash to be a true underdog or villain. Lexi Love, the season’s ultimate struggler, is so beloved and iconic at her core that it seems inevitable she’ll land in the bottom against Suzie. This would be her moment to conquer her inner saboteur and take out the frontrunner she’s been paranoid about all season.
And then, of course, there’s Onya—the season’s undeniable powerhouse.
Everything is pointing to Lexi and Suzie in the bottom this week. At the very least, Lexi will finally get the validation she’s been searching for—but it’s going to come at the expense of Suzie Toot.
Ariana Grande is either a guest judge in the finale, a psychic, or someone told her something. Either way, she knows more than she’s letting on.
Did Ariana Grande accidentally spoil Drag Race—Or just follow her favourites?
Listen, we’re all capable of being right. For all we know, Ariana Grande is just a fan of the season—she picked her favorites after the second or third week like the rest of us, followed them, and is simply supporting some talented queens. But with that said, it seems pretty wild that she’s only following four of the five remaining contestants—and has been since way earlier in the season.
If I had to put money on it, not only did she know who the final four would be, but she’s somehow been involved in the season.
Are we getting an Ariana Grande appearance in the finale? Does she just love Drag Race so much that she accurately predicted who would make it to the end? Or is she so tuned in that her personal favorites just happened to still be in the competition?
I’m not saying this is a definitive spoiler… but I am saying it’s definitely suspicious!
Ariana Grande, if you knew this—LOGO needs to start making you sign an NDA, queen, because the fans? They see everything.
What do you think? Sound off in the comments—did Ariana just spoil the final four weeks ago, or is this all just a coincidence? Or is Suzie Toot going to be in the finale, and I just wrote an article that has less of an impact than I thought it would.
