Farmer Wants A Wife star Farmer Tom Boyer has revealed a little-known fact from behind the scenes of the show, telling Yahoo Lifestyle that fans would be surprised to know just how long they are filming the show every day.

“That’s probably the big thing that not many people know,” Tom tells us. “Obviously, we start in the morning and then on the dinners where you send someone home, we were still filming at 3/4am. It’s very big days and all the events – like sometimes it was 5am when we were getting back to the hotel rooms.”

He jokingly adds, “[Viewers] are like, ‘Oh, you looked really sad,’ but you’re like, ‘Oh my eyes were just bloodshot because I was tired.'”

“Or if we look a bit uninterested – and it’s bad because sometimes you’re like, ‘Oh I look very uninterested in that,’ then you think back and you’re like, ‘No that was about 4:30 in the morning!'”

‘This isn’t for me’

Farmer Tom also reveals what he thought about Angela, who was one of his mum’s picks and joined the show this week, only to leave one day later after realising farm life wasn’t for her.

Tom tells us that when Angela arrived, she was “a bit standoffish and seemed a bit shy”, but adds she’s a “very good person” and they got along very well. However, after the cameras stopped rolling that day, she took Tom aside and said, “This isn’t for me.”

This meant that when he was told on-camera he had a strong inkling about what she was going to say.

“I kind of knew what was coming, but it didn’t worry me, I was just like, ‘If it’s not what you want, there’s no point staying at all,'” he says.

Tom adds that Angela leaving meant it made things a little easier for him, because he could focus on the girls who did want to be there.

“She didn’t want to be there, so I didn’t have to make that sort of decision,” he says, adding that despite the fact they got along well, it made things “easier” because she wasn’t there long enough for him to “develop any kind of feelings”.

“So yeah, it was just kind of easy, and we left on good terms, I’d have. No problem seeing her now,” Tom says.

He adds that despite the fact that she was clearly a city girl, he respected the fact she gave it a go.
