The serious consequences of Manny punching Luke Leone at the Firefighter Ball left him in a tough spot, but Fire Country season 3 seemingly started the process of bringing Manny back to his original inspiring role. Manny tried his best to delay the moment he would be arrested to accompany Gabriela to the altar in Fire Country season 2’s finale, but he eventually was, and season 3, episode 2 revealed how relentless the DA was in pursuing prison time. However, his Cal Fire colleagues’ show of support convinced the DA to send him to the Three Rock fire camp instead.
Returning to Three Rock as an inmate placed Manny in front of a difficult truth to accept, that his mistakes and impulsivity got him to the same place he believed to have left behind. This, coupled with Gabriela’s refusal to stand by Manny as he ended up incarcerated again, led Manny to a dark place, especially as he also knew Gabriela was going through some difficult times and he didn’t know how to help her. However, Fire Country season 3, episode 10 showed glimpses of the old Manny, teasing a return to his original forgotten role as an inspiring leader.
Manny Proves His Leadership By Convincing An Inmate To Come Clean
This Way, Manny Found His Old Self Back
Manny discovering the inmate drinking contraband alcohol on the job prompted him to react terribly in Fire Country season 3, episode 10, having him play a hand in Eve discovering the bottle as a result. While Manny’s first reaction was one of anger as the other inmate was endangering all of them, it was his behavior in the cabin back at Three Rock that proved his return to his old self. Indeed, Manny choosing not to tell Eve who had brewed the alcohol would have doomed him, but it also reminded everyone he was part of the inmate group.
Manny finally focused on the here and now in Fire Country season 3, episode 10, demonstrating impressive leadership skills by showing the inmate who kept the contraband alcohol that they would all suffer for his mistake if he didn’t own up to it.
Up until now, Manny’s Fire Country season 3 story felt like a cautionary tale for Bode because he kept focusing on his past mistakes. Manny finally focused on the here and now in Fire Country season 3, episode 10, demonstrating impressive leadership skills by showing the inmate who kept the contraband alcohol that they would all suffer for his mistake if he didn’t own up to it, not going behind his back but letting him take responsibility. This way, Manny’s actions proved him a true leader among the inmates, someone able to protect them and inspire them just as well.
Why It’s The Perfect Time For Manny To Return To Cal Fire
Manny Finding His Old Self At Three Rock Helps His Future Path
Although Manny always wanted to return to Three Rock as captain, his actions in Fire Country seasons 2 and 3 showed he wasn’t ready. However, his choices in season 3, episode 10 proved Manny had finally stopped thinking about his past and how his decisions disappointed him, instead actively trying to do better. Manny’s speech inspired the inmates as much as Eve, who channeled the true meaning of Three Rock – trying to give Manny and the others a second chance – instead of just punishing the inmate for making the contraband alcohol.
This sets up Manny’s future return to Cal Fire and hopefully Three Rock as captain. Indeed, Manny already was hurt because for Bode resulting positive for drugs in season 1, he had lost his captaincy there. However, Fire Country season 3, episode 10 showed Manny’s resolve in working towards his goal to get back to Cal Fire, and his talk with Luke Leone and how he was sure Manny would have worked for his place back teased how Manny returning to his original role is in his future in Fire Country.
