Supernatural actor Jared Padalecki has found a new television series. Amid the cancelation of his series, Walker, Padalecki joined CBS’s Fire Country and his character will be a game-changer.

Speaking to TVLine, Fire Country showrunner Tia Napolitano teased why Jared Padalecki’s arrival is exciting for the series and its future. The news of his casting broke out recently, with the Supernatural star set to play a character named Camden Casey, who is described as “SoCal firefighter and a maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s (Max Thieriot) raw talent.” Now, Napolitano also teased what’s exciting about his arrival in Edgewater.

Speaking about Padalecki’s new character, Napolitano teased that, “We launch Camden Casey in a really dynamic way.” Padalecki’s contract is currently for only three episodes but it was teased that the character has the potential of getting his own spinoff, similar to the Fire Country spinoff led by Deadpool’s Morena Baccarin.

Napolitano continued, “We were so excited about casting Jared. And he’s really going to ‘flip the script’ in Edgewater,” she explained. She further teased Camden’s importance, noting that “Everyone sort of treats Bode (played by series co-creator Max Thieriot) as this tiger they’re trying to tame, and Camden kind of says, ‘Why are you trying to tame a tiger? Let him out!’”

The Fire Country Universe Keeps Growing

Fire Country comes from Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater. The fire-fighting drama premiered in October 2022 and follows Bode Donovan, a young convict who volunteers with the fire-fighting California Conversation Camp Program in hopes he will reduce his prison sentence. The series also stars Kevin Alejandro as Manny, Jordan Calloway as Jake, Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela, Jules Latimer as Eve, Diane Farr as Sharon, and Billy Burke as Vince.

Morena Baccarin’s debut on the CBS series as Mickey Fox, Sharon Leone’s estranged sister, paved the way for the Fire Country universe to grow. A spinoff following Baccarin’s character has been picked up for the 2025-2026 season, and now Padalecki might get one, too. His previous track record of leading multiple television series will surely help his case.

Jared Padalecki Will Also Join The Boys

In the aftermath of Walker’s cancelation, Supernatural creator Eric Kripke thought it was the best time to bring Jared Padalecki over to The Boys. The satirical superhero series has starred many Supernatural alums, including Jensen Ackles, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Jim Beaver, and now it’s Padalecki’s turn.

Speaking on the role, Padalecki’s last update was in June when speaking to TVLine, and he explained: “He and I have talked about what it could look like. It’s not written yet. He said it wouldn’t really be until 2025. We wouldn’t shoot until probably January-ish,” Padalecki said. “[I’m game to] go play in the playground [of] the guy who created Sam Winchester. I’ve had good times in his playground, so I’m happy to do it again.”

The Boys Season 5 will also be its last and filming starts sometime in early 2025. As for Fire Country, there’s no release date for Padalecki’s episodes yet.
