Stay on your P’s and Q’s, you’ve entered Sheriff Country. The Fire Country spinoff released its first teaser and fans are loving the sneak peek of the upcoming series.
Fire Country shared the 10 second promo on its official Instagram account on March 21, introducing actress Morena Baccari as the sheriff in charge. In the clip, Morena’s character, Sheriff Mickey Fox, finds herself in heightened situations, like discovering a hidden stash of a boatload of money.
“I am so excited for this show. Female power!” one fan wrote in the comments section of the post, while a second fan added, “This is looking good! Can’t wait to see this episode.”
Sheriff Mickey Fox, was introduced to fans during Fire Country season 2 and is reprising her role as the lead of Sheriff Country. In addition to leading her community in Edgewater, Sheriff Mickey will have to navigate her father’s illegal business as a drug dealer.
Sheriff Mickey played a major role in Fire Country as she was the person who arrested Bode Leone, the main character portrayed by Max Thieriot.
“We are focused on mass-appeal franchises,” CBS President and CEO George Cheeks first hinted about the new series in June 2023. “This season’s number one show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe … It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch. And so I’m like, ‘you guys, congratulations, you got your back nine. Now let’s start talking about ideas for new extensions.’ They’ve already come up with some great ones.”
Max, 36, not only stars as Bode on Fire Country, but he also serves as the show’s executive producer and cocreator. He also is in the loop with the progression of Sheriff Country.
“I’m really excited about it. I can tell you that personally that I’m really proud of what we’ve done so far,” he told Us Weekly in October 2024. “I’m only getting bits and pieces of where [the writers’ room] is at right now in the season 1 conversation. But I can tell you that what I’ve seen and what I know and have been a part of is very exciting.”
Although Sheriff Country is based in the same fictional town in Edgewater, Max shared that the show will differ from Fire Country.
“We get to see a different part of Edgewater and get to meet different characters who live in this town and this community that we wouldn’t normally meet,” Max continued. “Just getting to see a different side of the town is going to be really fun. It’s going to give us a more complete understanding of this community and this town and these people. I just think it’s going to make the world feel more whole in a weird way.”
Two months prior, Morena, 45, revealed that she knew nothing about the season debut.
“I actually know absolutely nothing,” she admitted. “They’re working on the first episode [with the] staff in the writers room right now. You know the script for the first episode.”
