NCIS fans have spotted an early days filming blunder which ‘ruins’ the rest of the episode.

NCIS fans have pointed out a split-second mistake that has ramifications for the rest of the agents’ investigation.

Lifelong fans of the CBS police procedural are known to be eagle-eyed when it comes to even the smallest moments, bringing them into question on social media once noticed.

And as the wait is still ongoing for the drama’s return, many are rewatching past seasons for their NCIS fix but this doesn’t come without its issues.

A Reddit user took to the community platform after watching season eight, episode five’s Dead Air which was originally shown in 2010.

In this instalment, it is up to Agent Leroy Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) to investigate the murders of three people, including a Navy commander, who were shot on a live radio show.

But the NCIS fan almost instantly found an issue with Dead Air as they state the killer was shown within the first minute, prior to its opening credits.

They entitled their thread: “Just rewatched the season eight episode ‘Dead Air’ and accidentally noticed a tiny mistake that ruins the entire episode.”

The post continued: “If you look at the reflection on the car at 0:46, you can see the killer’s face.

“It’s a blink and you’ll miss it-type thing, but once you see it, the whole episode falls apart.”

In response, one fan wrote: “It’s a very interesting thing what you noticed there.

“You can see the killer’s face for a fraction of a second, only if you press stop in the very precise moment you can recognize his face.

“What I find really interesting is that we may think this scenes where the face is not openly shown are usually performed by a double.

“Why they use the guest star for that scene? Was that reflection on the car a mistake?

“During the seasons I’ve discovered they do some things on purpose, just to be found. And you did it.”

While another stated: “For the most part, I’ve noticed the killer is a person we meet in the first five minutes.

“This is one of the few episodes we witness the murder – a lot of times it starts with finding a dead body.”

This thread then encouraged fellow fans to share their own discoveries while watching NCIS episodes.

A third wrote: “I’ve got another one. The mail carrier had already seen Tony and Tim who identified themselves as Federal agents in the neighborhood.

“So wouldn’t it have made sense for another agent to get voice prints?”

Referring to Kate Todd’s (Sasha Alexander) death in season two, someone else said: “I think it’s worse when you see Tony squint and move his head back before Kate gets shot.

“Though I really think it’s funny so many years later.”
