Ava Jerome saw her chance to punish Esme and she took it!
The General Hospital recap for Tuesday, January 9, 2024, features Ava giving Esme a taste of her own medicine. And, oh was this revenge sweet as can be!
General Hospital Recap Highlights
Also in this episode, Curtis put on a brave face for a chance to walk again while Stella danced around her feelings for Marshall. Over at The Invader, Alexis did much the same when Gregory asked to be platonic. Meanwhile, Sonny checked in on Carly and they opened up to each other. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.
A Very Bad Girl
Ava (Maura West) arrived at the station to confront the person who broke into her castle. She wasn’t expecting to see Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) but she was delighted. She even entertained the baddie as Esme relayed her sob story….the same set of lies Esme previously told Laura.
Esme explained she was just trying to get her memories back. Sadly, her plan failed and now she was coming clean to do the right thing. Laura (Genie Francis) backed her up and all but begged Ava to not press charges. Maybe some community service would suffice?
That was a solid no-go for Ava. She demanded Esme pay the price for this crime, especially since they couldn’t nail her for all her other wrongdoings. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) had no choice but to cuff Esme and whisk her away. All the while Esme cried out to Laura about how the Mayor promised this wouldn’t happen. Oops.
An Emotional Time
Emotions also ran high over at Kelly’s but for very different reasons. Sonny (Maurice Benard) showed up to check on Carly (Laura Wright) and she cried to him about her mother. How would she tell the little girls? How would she live without her mom? She didn’t get enough time with her as it was.
Sonny offered to be there for her every step of the way. They were and would always be family, after all. Bobbie may not have always liked him but he had great respect for her. In fact, he saw a lot of her in Carly, especially when it came to being a mother.
The pair gently touched on the subject of Nina (Cynthia Watros) and what happened to Sonny’s damaged knuckles. He wasn’t happy and Carly knew it. However, now wasn’t the time to gloat. Carly offered her support should Sonny need a shoulder.
Meanwhile, over in Alexis’s office, she and Gregory (Gregory Harrison) looked over the snaps of their big jump. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was ready to do it again. Gregory was not. Once was enough, thank you very much.
Gregory brought up their kiss and apologized for it. Alexis tried to tell him she wasn’t sorry and was open to more, but Gregory stopped her. He needed a solid friend, which she was. He needed things to stay that way. Alexis accepted.
The Risk Is Worth The (Possible) Reward
Over at the hospital, Curtis (Donnell Turner) and his family were nervous wrecks as he was prepped for surgery. This was a huge deal and his one shot at walking again, but was it right? Curtis and Portia (Brook Kerr) went over the pros and cons with and without Dr. Martell. In the end, they decided Curtis was ready to take the plunge.
In the hallway, the family did much the same. Stella (Vernee Wilson) was being a Debbie Downer until Marshall (Robert Gossett) blew a gasket. He fumed and walked off with TJ (Tajh Bellow) following close behind. As the men talked, Marshall admitted he was worried sick too.
Back in the waiting area, Trina (Tabyana Ali) told Stella all about the art program and her reluctance to go. Stella stopped her naysaying ways. She encouraged Trina to go and live her best life!
Then, Stella apologized to Marshall. He took that as an invite to bring up Christmas, but Stella wasn’t ready for that conversation. Thankfully, she was saved by Curtis being wheeled off and they all ran over to bid him good luck before he headed into the OR.
