General Hospital spoilers suggest that the header writers are returning. Fans are hoping they will save the show from the current state it’s in.

They’re calling on the writers to ditch the sad storylines and bring back the lightness and humor. Keep on reading to learn more.

Head Writers Return

Spoilers for General Hospital indicate that co-head writers Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor will be back. The writers’ strike has officially ended, so the soap operas may resume utilizing their regular writing staff.

Scratch writers took over the narratives for a large portion of the year. Fans of GH expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that the scabs added an extra dark tone to the show.

On the SoapCentral.com Message Boards, user Oakie wrote: “I hope Chris and Dan ditch all these bummer stories.” I do not want Kristina’s surrogacy narrative to continue. We are discussing two years of this terrible calamity. I detest the idea of Kristina robbing the baby as the drama comes to a close.

The original poster suggested other storylines the head writers should ditch. They’re also not interested in Dr. Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) malpractice lawsuit.

Gregory Chase’s (Gregory Harrison) declining health, Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) amnesia, or Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) moping around Port Charles.

The user did note that Esme’s amnesia is concluding. This could be a clue that the head writers are transitioning away from the sad storylines.

Fans took to the thread to share their thoughts. Most of them revealed what they would like to see in 2024.

No More Soapy Nightmare

According to the General Hospital spoilers, there should be more soapy nightmares now that the head writers are back. Most fans are annoyed by all the focus on Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

They would like to see her leave Port Charles permanently. But, that won’t happen since she has a huge fanbase.

“These are Chris and Dan’s stories; the temporary writers were given five months’ worth of outlines to follow; their responsibility was to fill in the dialogue and keep the show moving in the right direction,” one fan objected. “Yes, and I think they’ve done a good job,” was the response from another. Before the temporary writers took over, we were all grumbling about different parts of the show.

GH fans’ opinions of the present plot are divided. While some people are glad to see the head writers again, others have been enjoying the stories for the previous few months.

After all of its Daytime Emmy victories, some people said that General Hospital ought to improve. There are those who would want to see fewer stories about the SEC and the mob.
