General Hospital Spoilers: Sofia Mattsson Memorializes Johnny Wactor At The Daytime Emmys

According to General Hospital spoilers, at the Daytime Emmys on June 7, 2024, Sofia Mattsson (Sasha Gilmore) paid tribute to her late costar Johnny Wactor. Suspects tampering with Wactor’s vehicle in late May resulted in his shooting death.

Fans who had paid tribute to the unique performer on social media were devastated by the news, as were the cast and staff of the ABC soap opera.

Mattsson and Wactor “shared so many great memories, so many tears and laughter on and off screen,” she said to People at the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards.

Sofia Mattsson Remembers Johnny Wactor

Johnny Wactor died on May 25 at age 37. He had left his downtown LA job in the early morning hours and was escorting a female coworker to her car when they found three suspects trying to steal the catalytic converter from Wactor’s vehicle.

According to his mother Scarlett, Wactor was not aggressive with the suspects and was shielding his colleague when he was shot once, point blank in the chest. The thieves fled the scene and the LAPD has not yet apprehended the suspects.

As the on-screen spouse of Wactor, Mattsson recollected that he was amiable and “very silly,” the type of guy who “made you feel so comfortable and at home.”

She also talked about her fondest recollection of Wactor, who appeared in almost 200 episodes of the show before his character was killed off.

“We really went through that together, so I really loved when we had a storyline when we lost our baby,” the woman remarked.

Watching him turn his dream of becoming a father into a reality for himself was really lovely. It was therefore incredibly interesting to observe how completely he bought into the part and brought it to life for himself.

Johnny Wactor Leaves Behind A Rich Legacy

Wactor’s credits include NCIS, Westworld, and Criminal Minds. Following his Wactor’s death, his fans, colleagues and loved ones expressed their shock and grief on social media.

This is what Mattson shared: “I admire the man he was so much and I’m a better person for having known him. We shared so many special moments, both on and off screen, and I will forever cherish them deeply in my heart,” she continued. “You will be so incredibly missed Johnny… I’m sure you’re already busy taking care of everyone up there ❤️.”
