Spoilers for General Hospital reveal Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) has been saved from herself once more by Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). If his return from what is believed to be his grave wasn’t enough to completely turn Carly’s life around, he has now given her back the company she loved and helped expand into a huge success, back when Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) handed it to her first.
Carly was obviously game for that gift the first time, but she didn’t seem to be willing to allow someone else take over and take care of her in the same way twice.
Feeling that she lost it on her own accord, that is how she was determined to get it back. Never acknowledging that was unlikely to happen, she didn’t back when Jason was ready to hand it all back over to her, but not everyone is keen with how this storyline is going down.
It Still Hasn’t Sunk In
Carly didn’t even pause to glance around Bobbie’s or consider what she would be leaving behind when she returned to the Metro Court Hotel since she was so overcome with emotion over Jason’s noble act. Let’s be sincere.
The fact that Nina Reeves Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) split her time between running a hotel and serving as Editor-in-Chief of Crimson Magazine contributed to part of the reason it was struggling under her co-management.
Running two full-time businesses was no easy task, so when Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) put Jason’s kind offer on the table, Nina was relieved to cross it off her to-do list. Furthermore, Nina believed that this would help her gain favor with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
The joke’s on her. Nonetheless, Carly is going to land squarely in the same position Nina just was, and it won’t dawn on her right away what this transition means for the diner that gave her roots.
Hint the Fans Don’t Like This One Bit
Ever since Jason delivered the good news to Carly with tears in his eyes reflected back by her own, one might think the fans were weeping. Hey, maybe we were.
But we can relish the relationship between these two would-be lovebirds without shoving to the side how little sense it makes that Carly accepted this gift from Jason. It’s not like he’s the first to make the offer.
While Sonny was clearly off limits at the time, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) still said he was willing to buy back Carly’s half of the Metro Court Hotel after she lost it, and she would hear nothing of letting her baby boy help.
Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) — her beau at the time — would’ve done the same, but she refused to let them bail her out of a mess she made all on her own.
Once again, Jason is different. With little protest, Carly accepted his goodwill with gratitude. The fans insist it just doesn’t make practical sense, but doesn’t it?
Moving On
What transpires from this point forward has not yet been discussed. Carly will have to make sure the bar at the Metro Court is filled and there is enough of caviar, so she can’t spend the entire day at Bobbie’s serving grilled cheese and cheering up her patrons.
When this fact sinks in, she will have to choose where her time is most valuable.
Even though she was ecstatic to leave Bobbie’s and dash to the Metro Court to tell Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) that they were getting back together, she might not be so quick to leave her mother’s haunt the next time, because it seems like she won’t be returning frequently.
