George Schenck D.ead At 82: Producer Who Worked On NCIS’ First 15 Seasons Passes Away At Brentwood Home

George Schenck, a producer and writer who worked on the iconic series NCIS for 15 years, has died at age 82.

The Hollywood executive passed away at his Brentwood home on August 3, according to Variety.

Schneck’s credits include roles producing Dying to Remember, Crazy Like a Fox, and It Came Upon the Midnight Clear.

He served in numerous capacities on the first 15 seasons of the legendary series NCIS, working as a producer and writer.

NCIS star Mark Harmon paid tribute to Schenck in a statement.

‘So sorry to hear the news on George,’ he said. ‘The professionalism and tenacity of George and Frank changed the face of the show. I’m so appreciative of the team and teamwork they both represented.’

Harmon joined NCIS when it first debuted back in 2003 before eventually departing in 2018.

During his run on the series, he served as an executive producer, co-executive producer, consulting producer, and writer of 48 episodes.

Schenck comes from a family ingrained in Hollywood – his father is the late film and TV producer Aubdrey Schenck, according to Deadline.

His great uncles, the brothers Nicholas and Joseph Schenck, were also instrumental during the Golden Age of Hollywood, Deadline reports.

During his pivotal time, they oversaw MGM and 20th Century Fox and played key roles in the film industry for many years.

George is a graduate of the University of Southern California, first receiving a screenwriting degree before advancing onto their film school’s writer’s program.

He was a member of their first class and obtained a graduate degree from the film school, according to Variety. Schenck subsequently served in the U.S. Navy.

His earliest writing credit on IMDb dates back to a 1965 episode of The Wild Wild West, followed by an episode of the Western show Branded.

Among his many writing credits include an episode for Fantasy Island and a story by credit for Bonanza.

Schneck’s wife Virginia Schenck passed away last year. They were married for over 50 years.

He is survived by their two sons, Kirk and Jeff, along with their daughters-in-law and grandchildren.

In memory of the late writer, his family have asked for donations to be sent to the Writers Guild Foundation in lieu of flowers.
