Being the coolest of the cool, General Hospital’s Brick has eyes for Jordan when he’s not doing a job for Sonny.
We Need More Brick
Although we don’t get to see much of Brick (Stephen A. Smith) on General Hospital, when he does make an appearance it’s an absolute treat. For someone whose main job is being a sports journalist and radio host, Smith brings a gravitas to Brick whenever he visits Port Charles. Working for mafia don Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Brick’s skills rival (if not exceed) that of the Jackal himself, Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). Brick’s loyalty is true and deep, and when he’s got your back, you know things are going to be okay.
But Brick has another set of skills that Spinelli doesn’t: a swagger and a coolness that makes him more like a tech-savvy Fonzie than a computer geek. When Sonny assigns Brick a task, you know he’s going to follow it through to a satisfying completion. However, for the first time ever, Sonny got one over on Brick on the April 16 episode. Brick had bemoaned the fact that he still hadn’t figured out who paid Dex (Evan Hofer) a hefty amount to infiltrate Sonny’s organization, and when Sonny said he knew who it was, the look on Brick’s face was priceless. (But in all fairness, there was no skill involved on Sonny’s part…Michael (Chad Duell) told him he paid Dex.)
But that didn’t stop the tech guru from later sauntering over to Deputy Mayor Jordan’s (Tanisha Harper) office to continue to try to woo her with his smooth talking. Bringing flowers and inviting her out to dinner, Brick’s got all the right moves and words that make her almost become a puddle at his feet. Sadly, he got called away on business, so the two planned a rain check. They first connected when Jordan asked for his help in an investigation. The moment they met, their chemistry was off the charts insane, and the two could become the next soap opera super couple.
Smith, of course, has an ongoing major career in the sports industry and as such only recurs on GH, but we need to see more of him. Jordan’s been sidelined quite a bit, and her attempted love life with Zeke (Gavin Houston) seemed to have fizzled out before it started. We need Jordan in more front-burner stories.
Brick and Jordan’s chemistry set the television on fire, and viewers are going to need to keep a fire extinguisher handy for their next encounter.
