Home and Away fans have pointed out that a character has mysteriously gone missing from the show.
On a Facebook fan page, one viewer was quick to point out that Justin Morgan’s beloved pooch, Buddy, has mysteriously gone missing from Summer Bay.
‘What happened to Buddy? Never see him anymore,’ commented one eagle-eyed viewer.
‘Poor Buddy, he must be starving, no one ever feeds him, let alone takes him out on daily walks?!’ wrote another.
‘He’s in the backyard,’ replied another person, before one proposed a novel theory about Boxer’s extended absence.
‘[Buddy] heard Justin singing and playing guitar and ran far away like a dog with fireworks, poor thing,’ the comment read, referring to the character’s tendency to sing on the show.
Elsewhere, other suggested the long-running drama should go back to showing more of the characters’ domestic lives.
‘No pets. no kids. No school. Weird,’ said one fan.
Another person agreed: ‘I love Home and Away but they need to get back to the old show with the kids and school and bring Buddy back too, make it more of a family show again.’
It comes as the Home and Away’s biggest stars have come into question amid Channel Seven’s cost-cutting.
Household names such as Ada Nicodemou and James Stewart, who are believed to be worth millions, have had a pause put on their huge salaries.
As Seven continues to cut jobs, an inside source told Daily Mail Australia last month that their biggest soap stars won’t be getting a pay rise anytime soon.
‘I can’t imagine now would be a good time for Ada Nicodemou or James Stewart to renegotiate their contracts,’ the insider said.
‘While the show is still riding high in the ratings, the long running soap won’t be spared on the budget cuts – as the network tightens its belt.
‘The current executive team is preserving the network but it is fair to say the glory days of high paid soapy stars have gone.’
Despite allegedly taking these measures to protect the popular long-running soap series, the network believes the show will survive the budget cuts unscathed.
However, the source says in the meantime ‘anyone looking to up their salary on the high rating soap will have to wait until next year’.
While it’s not known exactly how much Home and Away’s biggest names get paid, stars like Ada, 47, and James, 48, are believed to be worth millions combined for their work on the show.
