Mackenzie is distressed after receiving Imogen’s wedding jewellery. She pleads with Levi to explain – asking what could have led Imogen to this headspace and how she knew where they lived. Levi has an inkling and confronts Eden, telling her to back off.
Mackenzie turns up at Eden’s later, asking her to return the rings.. Eden refuses, reminding Mackenzie that Imogen’s not the bad guy and they need to stop baiting her. Mac isn’t sure what Eden means by that, so Eden delights in telling her about Levi’s chat with Imogen. Eden gloats that Levi is keeping secrets from Mac already.
When Mac faces Levi later, she admits to looking at his phone the night before. She demands to know how often he is contacting his wife and why he is lying about it. He claims he was protecting her, but she’s unhappy about the lie, and Levi doesn’t appreciate the feedback – he thought at least that they were on the same side.
Meanwhile, John and Dana are on patrol when they come across a shipping container washed up on the beach. John takes it as more evidence that something strange is afoot. The trio can’t agree on whether to open the container, as it could be dangerous. Dana points out that it’s locked, which means there could be something to hide.
John agrees, and he’s annoyed to hear later that Dana has posted photos of the seaside anomaly to social media. He points out that it’s their job to protect the beach and he expected better of her.
Dana offloads to Xander later – she’s not taking orders from John Palmer anymore, and she’s determined to prove he’s not the know-all he thinks he is. When John catches her at the shipping container with a crowbar, she quickly surmises that the bolt cutters he’s holding mean they came here for the same reason. Their excitement is palpable as they decide to open the container.
