The former Voice star, 27, recently shared a video to Instagram in which he revealed he would play his new song Better to Forget to one random fan after inviting them into his car to listen to it.

‘Okay, we’re going to go around and see if we can find someone we can play my new song to. I’ve never done this before, hopefully someone wants to listen,’ Matt told his fans.

He was then seen driving to a Sydney park and asking a woman walking down the footpath if she wanted to get in his car with him.

‘Hey excuse me, would you want to come in my car and listen to a new song of mine?’ Matt said.

‘No thank you. Good luck though,’ the woman immediately replied, before quickly walking away.

A red-faced Matt then told his fans he would never be doing that again, admitting: ‘I am so embarrassed’.

Furious fans quickly took to the comment section to slam Evans for his inappropriate request.

‘She didn’t want to sit in your car. STRANGER DANGER!’ one fan sniped, as a second person added: ‘You probably scared the wits outta her.’

However, one fan point out the stunt looked fake: ‘People thinking it’s real and not staged. It’s his friend,’ and Evans confirmed they were ‘acting’ in the clip.

Matt began his showbusiness career by belting out tunes on series nine of The Voice Australia in 2020.

Matt rose to fame on the reality singing competition as part of Team Delta, before he joining forces with Janie Gordon as a duo.

The following year, he expanded his career into acting by joining the long-running soap opera Home and Away.

Speaking about his first acting role to The Daily Telegraph, Matt told the publication he was ‘learning on the job’.

‘I went in there with a clean slate and I am learning so much day-by-day,’ he said.
