I Really Hope Tulsa King Season 2 Doesn’t Waste This Great Character

The new trailer for Tulsa King season 2 painted a very exciting picture of the coming season, but it also made me worried that one important character could be wasted. Tulsa King season 2 is fast-approaching, and more and more details are being revealed about the future of Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi. The new season of Tulsa King already looks bigger and better than ever before, as Dwight is set to expand his criminal empire and continue his takeover of Tulsa. As both Dwight and Tulsa King expand, however, I really hope they save room for one great character.

There are a few characters who deserve bigger roles in Tulsa King season 2, and the show’s first season set up quite a few interesting storylines with them. From Tyson’s conflict with his father to the fallout of Goodie’s decision to leave Chickie and join Dwight, Tulsa King season 2 had a lot of great stories it could have explored. The trailer for Tulsa King season 2 didn’t give much insight into which characters it will focus on. Unfortunately, it might have also indicated that one character won’t be a priority, and I really hope Tulsa King season 2 doesn’t waste her story.

Why I’m Concerned That Tulsa King Season 2 Could Waste Stacy Beale

At the end of Tulsa King season 1, Stacy Beale betrayed Dwight and had him arrested by the ATF. The trailer for Tulsa King season 2 briefly addresses that betrayal by showing Dwight getting out of prison on bail, and then it completely disregards it in favor of showing all the new elements in the coming season. Stacy wasn’t in the trailer for Tulsa King season 2 at all, which makes me very concerned about how her story gets resolved. It’s possible that Tulsa King is simply hiding the resolution of Stacy’s betrayal to preserve the reveal, but I’m still really worried that it won’t do her story justice.

The trailer made it seem like Stacy isn’t a big priority in Tulsa King season 2. Dwight got out of prison extremely quickly and easily. While there will likely be lingering issues from Dwight’s court case, it seems like the show is going to focus more on his troubles with Neal McDonough’s Cal Thresher and Frank Grillo’s Bill Bevilaqua. I don’t see how they can give Stacy as much attention as her story deserves while also giving those new storylines so much focus. It would be a real shame if Tulsa King did waste Stacy Beale, especially given how much the first season set her up.

Stacy Beale’s Storyline Deserves Better After Tulsa King Season 1

The biggest reason I hope Tulsa King doesn’t abandon Stacy is because her story had so much potential. Stacy Beale’s betrayal was the emotional climax of Tulsa King season 1, and it just seems a shame that it could be completely forgotten in Tulsa King season 2. For the entire season, Stacy and Dwight were growing closer and starting to see eye to eye, and her betrayal came out of left field. It also came at the exact moment Tina decided to reenter Dwight’s life, and his arrest could have undone all the goodwill he earned with his daughter.

Examining Stacy’s betrayal and all the fallout from it could have been a really compelling story for Tulsa King season 2 to follow. It could have set Stacy up as a villain, or it could have shown her trying to get back in Dwight’s good graces. It also could have explored Tina’s relationship with her father, something that the trailer seems to have already confirmed won’t happen, given Dwight has a good relationship with his grandchildren. Stacy Beale could be the catalyst to explore so many different characters and plots in Tulsa King season 2, and I really hope the show takes advantage of her.
