Home and Away star James Stewart is in the spotlight more than ever following his debut on the 2024 season of Dancing With The Stars as well as his off-screen romance with Ada Nicodemou.
Born October 21, 1975, in Melbourne, James is a well-known Australian actor, best known for his appearance in Breaks, Packed to the Rafters, and of course, Home and Away.
UPBRINGING
James, 48, grew up on the Gold Coast with his twin brother Nicholas and older half-sister Annie. His mother Beverly raised her children as a single parent.
His estranged father Arthur Koo is a former Australian soldier who served in the Vietnam War.
In 1996, when James and his brother Nick were just 21 years old, the two joined the band George, alongside Tyrone Noonan and his sister Katie Noonan, who was James’ housemate at the time. Though James left the band to pursue a career in acting full-time, Nick remained in the band until they disbanded in 2005.
CAREER
James’ career kicked off in 1998 when he starred as Alex Markham in the short-lived series Breakers which aired until 1999. He later moved into stage acting and became widely recognised for his 2007 role as Jim O’Connor in the Queensland Theatre Company’s production of The Glass Menagerie.
From 2009 to 2013, James’ grew very popular for his role as Jake Barton in Packed to the Rafters. He even received a Logie Award nomination for Most Popular New Male Talent in 2010 for this role.
Before his iconic role on Home and Away, James appeared in other series such as Gallipoli, Tomorrow When the War Began, and the ABC-TV drama series Hiding, alongside fellow Aussie stars Jacqueline McKenzie and Kate Jenkinson.
James joined Home and Away in 2016, during the show’s twenty-ninth season, and remains a star on the show to this day.

Who is Justin from Home and Away married to in real life?
James was engaged to Packed to the Rafter co-star Jessica Marais, until they separated in 2015. He then began dating and living with Home and Away co-star Isabella Giovinazzo, however, the two broke up in 2017.
James then married his Home and Away co-star Sarah Roberts in 2019. The two had been dating since October 2017 and later announced their engagement in December 2018. They got married at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland in July 2019.
In April 2024, Sarah and James got divorced – Sarah confirmed the news in an interview with Stellar magazine the following month.
Are Ada and James together in real life?
Just weeks after their Home and Away characters Leah and Justin tied the knot on-screen, James and Ada Nicodemou were spotted kissing each other in real life following a fun afternoon at a Sydney pub on April 25.
The two have since been seen out together on multiple occasions and have even been speculated to be moving in together.
Does James Stewart have any kids?
James has one daughter with ex-fiance Jessica Marais, Scout, born May 2012. James regularly shares photos of Scout on Instagram and has been very open about their bond.
In an interview with our sister publication WHO, James opened up about their relationship.
“[Fatherhood] made me a better man, that’s for sure,” James explained. “I’m more patient, I’m kinder, more attentive, more involved and passionate about life, way more protective and caring,” he said.
“But most of all, it’s made me more loving. Every night at Scout’s bedtime, I make sure I’m there to tell her I love her. I make sure she hears the words ‘Daddy loves you.’”
