Nearly 30 years after Clint Eastwood put Savannah on the map with ‘Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,’ Pooler’s time in the limelight will come in his next film
Nearly 30 years after Clint Eastwood put Savannah on the map with “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,” Pooler’s time in the limelight will come in his next film, “Juror No. 2.” Over the holiday season, crews for the film overtook Pooler Chamber of Commerce and WJCL 22 News got an inside look.
Courtney Rawlins, president of the Pooler Chamber of Commerce, was the only member of the chamber who stayed in the building during the filming.
“It was so great to kind of see the change,” said Rawlins. “Which is fun, right, having your office in a movie.”
The film crew, captained by David Williams, covered the floors of the building with cardboard to protect the floors. They removed the staff’s personal belongings, boxed it up, stored them and finally, put all of their belongings back right where they belonged.
“Even down to the computer screens. They did use my chair, though,” said Rawlins. “There’s a fun picture of Mr. Eastwood sitting right there.”
While the filming may have forced staff out of the office for two days, Rawlins said work was not affected. In fact, they encouraged them to film with hopes of bringing tourism to the area.
“It puts Pooler on the map. We’re already working to do that and become a destination city,” said Rawlins. “A lot of people following Clint Eastwood, follow him, and want to be in buildings he was in.”
For the chamber, it was a no-brainer to allow the movie crew to film.
“We just thought for our city, for our visitors and for our businesses that it would be a win-win situation,” said Rawlins.
