“It’s Good News” — Lainey Wilson Hints That She Will Return To ‘Yellowstone’ For Second Half Of Season 5

I’ll take that as a yes. This week, Lainey Wilson attended the Twisters movie premiere, as she’s featured on the extensive Twisters: The Album soundtrack alongside country stars like Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Tyler Childers and more. And during a quick interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cassie DiLaura asked Lainey if she would be returning to the Yellowstone series for the second half of Season 5 this fall, which is currently slated to air on November 5th:

Lainey plays a character named Abby, and had a budding romance with ranch worker Ryan (played by Ian Bohen) during the first part of Season 5, though she played it kind of coy in terms of giving 100% confirmation that she’ll be back in that role. She did say it was “good news,” though, and that they’re currently trying to work everything out with her schedule so that she can do it: “I can’t wink, but I’m doing something with my eye right now. It’s good news, I’ll tell you that.

Honestly, I don’t know when exactly they’re gonna start back up… the truth is, we’re trying to make sure that we have enough time to get in there and get it done, ‘cuz we’ve still got a lot going on right now, but it’s a priority.” Lainey also said that he hasn’t seen the scripts yet for Taylor Sheridan’s hit show, because he keeps them very close to the chest: “You know he does! He keeps it close to the chest.” Stay tuned… I’d say it’s very likely she’ll appear on Yellowstone for part two in some capacity.

They previously confirmed that filming had already started the second half of Season 5, but Lainey has a smaller role in the show as whole, so it’s likely she obviously won’t need to be there as much as the rest of the cast. I’m really hoping she returns, because I wanted to see Abby and Ryan’s relationship play out (mostly because I want to live vicariously through her, but that’s beside the point and I digress…).

Additionally, Lainey talked about how special it is to be part of the Twisters move, which is out everywhere in theaters this Friday, July 17th: “I’m proud to be part of it. When I saw the lineup, I knew they were working on getting a lot of really incredible country artists, but when I saw it, I was like y’all did it! Y’all did it.” She called it a “full-circle” moment after recalling a childhood memory watching the original Twister movie for the first time
