The Supernatural alum is re-teaming with Walker showrunner Anna Fricke on an as-yet-untitled medical drama in the works at CBS, TVLine has confirmed.

The prospective procedural would center on a “devoted country doctor (played by Padalecki) who practices his unique style of improvisational medicine alongside his new protégé, a young doctor running from her past, as they operate a mobile clinic and heal the bodies and souls of their underserved community in the medical desert of rural Texas,” according to the official logline.

The development news follows Padalecki’s three-episode arc on CBS’ Fire Country, on which he w as introduced as SoCal firefighter Camden Casey. His character may still resurface as the lead of a new Fire Country offshoot, reportedly dubbed Fire Country: Surfside, with Deadline noting that any such series would not move forward before the debut of the Morena Baccarin-led Sheriff Country spinoff, which is on tap for the 2025-26 TV season.

Padalecki was first known to TV audiences as Dean Forester, Rory’s on-again/off-again boyfriend on The WB’s Gilmore Girls. That was followed by his breakout role as Sam Winchester on the long-running CW drama Supernatural, which wrapped its 15-season run in 2020. Just two months later, he resurfaced as Texas ranger Cordwell on The CW’s Walker, which was cancelled after four seasons in May.
