On the same day his Dallas Cowboys finished out the regular season, owner Jerry Jones made his debut in a Taylor Sheridan series.

Jones, 82, appeared in the ninth episode of “Landman” on Sunday, Jan. 5. The series starring Billy Bob Thornton is described as a “modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs” and is set in Texas.

Around nine minutes into the episode, Jones, a real-life billionaire, is seen giving a speech to TV billionaire Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) after the latter’s latest heart attack.

Much of Jones’ speech is about how proud he is of working with his children.

While his daughter Charlotte attended Stanford University, Jones had to think up reasons to keep visiting her in California. It was there where he bought several plots of land and drilled oil wells, which Jones said gave him the money to purchase the Dallas Cowboys.

“Paying attention to my kids actually led to me getting involved into the passion of my life,” Jones said. “All along what I was trying to do is hang out near my daughter.”

Jones said his kids are involved in all of his businesses, from real estate and oil to the Cowboys.

While Jones tells Miller that this heart attack won’t be the end of him, eventually one may punch his ticket. When that time comes, Miller’s family will likely be there with him because they’re his family.

However, his family could be there because they truly loved and cared about him.

“I’m pretty proud of them Cowboys, I’m pretty proud of the stuff we’ve done in oil and gas,” Jones said. “It pales in comparison to how proud I am to have lived my life working with my kids.”

While this is the first time Jones has appeared in a series created by “Yellowstone” and “Landman” writer Taylor Sheridan, it isn’t the first time they’ve crossed paths.

In the Cowboys 2023 schedule release video, Sheridan was sent the team’s calendar while Jones was sent scripts for the latest season of “Yellowstone.” Jones agrees to swap documents if Sheridan auditions a few of his players for the show.

Several players do their best cowboy impressions before Sheridan, including Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs. After a speech about cowboy loyalty from Jones, he and Sheridan trade scripts. Take a look at the full schedule release video below:

Jones’ “Landman” appearance is also not the first time he’s appeared as himself in a television show.

The Cowboys owner popped up in episodes of “Coach,” “Arli$$,” “Entourage,” “Cubed” and “The League.” Jones also appeared in the 2024 documentary series about the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.

“Landman” streams on Paramount+ and will air its season finale on Sunday, Jan 12.
