Kevin Costner Doesn’t Want Bad Blood With Taylor Sheridan Anymore This Year

The New Year has just rung in, and a lot of New Year’s resolutions already seem to be setting course and solidifying themselves. This appears to stand especially true for former Yellowstone lead actor Kevin Costner, who ended up having a really messy departure from the saga last year following his reported fallout with the Western’s showrunner, Taylor Sheridan.

While his exit from the series after more than half a decade of contributing as John Dutton III came as a devastating surprise to many, it seems like Costner is now ready to move on. According to exclusive reports from insiders, the actor doesn’t want to have any further bad blood with Sheridan entailing him in this new year and is simply looking for a fresh start to everything.

Kevin Costner is putting his feud with Taylor Sheridan ‘behind him’

For years, Costner embodied the iconic John Dutton on the screens, and his performance was admirable enough to cement him as the heart of the show. But then things went downhill when he decided to prioritize and focus more on his own Western project, which eventually resulted in his reported fallout with the showrunner and messy exit from the lore.

Now, more than half a year since he officially confirmed that he would no longer be playing the Dutton family head, the actor seems to be willing to move on. As per what a source, who has been close to him for years, recently confessed to Life & Style, the Dances with Wolves actor has mellowed with time about the feud and is looking to start 2025 without grudges or hostility.

Kevin is being intentional about getting a fresh start in 2025 and he’s not going to keep warring with the Yellowstone franchise now that he’s officially exited the show. He’s putting all that behind him and focused on rescuing his in-progress Horizon: An American Saga film series and clawing back more of the massive investment he and his partners have put into it.

That being said, it’s inevitable that Costner already has enough on his mind and plate to invest even more in the bad blood, which reportedly erupted when he and showrunner Taylor Sheridan failed to see eye-to-eye anymore. Thus, it is good enough that he is willing to put that feud behind him while investing all his brains into figuring out where the other puzzle pieces of his life fit.

His Yellowstone exit now has Kevin Costner “breathing a sigh of relief”

Though it is one thing that the first part of his Horizon lore failed to appease fans at the global box offices, Kevin Costner doesn’t seem to want to give up just yet. If anything, as per what the insider’s reports claim, he sounds like he’s all prepared to move on and do better, and his exit from Sheridan’s Western further appears to have him “breathing a sigh of relief.”

As the source claimed:

The final piece of the puzzle for Kevin is sorting out his personal life and finding somebody he can spend the rest of his days with, and once he’s wrapped Horizon, he’s going to take that goal seriously, too. But right now he’s just breathing a sigh of relief that the Yellowstone drama is truly behind him and he’s once again the master of his own destiny.

Well, as New Year’s resolutions go, deciding to move on from a past rivalry and dedicating his entire time to fixing what went wrong with his own Horizon four-part saga instead while figuring out his personal life is a pretty good one. For what it’s worth, we hope it all ends up panning out in his favor, especially after considering all he has had to endure so far.
